As American Jews,
we have a rare chance to make a difference in Israel
- a chance that comes only every 5 years. Beginning January 21, 2020 we can elect
MERCAZ
representatives to the World Zionist Congress, where they will fight for Conservative/Masorti values, our recognition, and religious pluralism.
In this constantly shifting political climate, it is our responsibility to ensure a sweeter, stronger future in
Eretz Yisrael
for Conservative/Masorti Jews. Voting MERCAZ is our responsibility, and it is also our responsibility to mobilize friends, family, and fellow congregants; the consequences of this election will affect us all so it must also include us all.
It's time to PLEDGE, ORGANIZE AND VOTE.
1- Pick up a flyer in the lobby, or

While our B'nai Mitzvah generously sponsor or co-sponsor a Kiddush for our FLJC/CBI family, there are many reasons for contributions to the Kiddush Fund. Share and celebrate your events with the congregation via the Shabbat kiddush! Mark your birthdays, anniversaries, announcements of newborn babies, engagements, weddings, and any other family special events or memories you wish to share with your center family. No contribution is too small and a listing starts at only $18.
Your donations are, as always, tax deductible and help offset the cost of catering and preparing these weekly meals. Your contributions will be recognized from the bimah, on our Sponsor Poster Board during the Kiddush, and in our weekly Insider and monthly News & Views. Info? Contact the Kiddush Committee: Heidi Seigel-Laddy or Lois Meisel at
[email protected] or Abe at

A Special note from Rabbi Roth:
You can follow my progress on my blog at rabbironroth.com. I appreciate all of your kind thoughts and prayers. I have tried but have not been able to respond to each of your communications, but know I treasure them and I do enjoy hearing from you.
Also, please remember that because my immune system will be compromised we cannot accept any gifts of food or plants.
Your kind words are what we will need and they are much appreciated.

A Message from our Events and Rental Coordinator Penny Samuel
Since joining the FLJC team in September, I have had the pleasure of meeting many members of the Fair Lawn Jewish Center/Congregation B'nai Israel.
I have also met many people at local Jewish organizations who have a long history at our synagogue. There have been hundreds of people who have had baby namings, B'nai Mitzvah and weddings right here in our building. All have expressed their fondness for our community and will gladly contribute where they can to enhance the synagogue.
Publishers and community leaders have asked for 3-4 weeks notice to give as much publicity to our events as possible.
We ask that you work hand in hand with us, by submitting all the details of your events at least 1 month before the program so that it can reach the greater Jewish community.
Thank you for your help in this matter and I look forward to hearing from you.
Penny Samuel
Event and Rentals Coordinator
