DEVELOPING AND MANAGING THE FUTURE OF APARTMENT HOME LIVING
June 2017
Dear FJG Family,
This month, I want to highlight the Human Resources Department for playing an active role in cultivating a progressive culture at our corporate office and across our entire portfolio. You three are the pillars to our organization's efficiency and the secret to our success.

In addition,  Independence Day is just around the corner. Please remember to take a moment to honor all those who guarantee our country's freedom. I hope each of you has a safe and enjoyable holiday!

Sincerely,

Taylor Franklin

The Human Resources Department
The Franklin Johnston Group's Human Resources Department is composed of three altruistic characters that are unlike any other. Led by HR Manager, Rian Cuthriell, the team focuses on building a positive culture at work and offering guidance to the entire organization that is both professional and constructive. "We love being a trusted source for our co-workers to turn to." HR Specialist, Lauren James explains, "We work hard to improve their quality of life while employed at TFJG."

Together, they implement innovative strategies that are aimed at strengthening the organization's core values. In order to acknowledge those who go above and beyond, the department recently launched the "Be the Solution" campaign. HR has also committed to running the new Culture Committee with the sole purpose of truly listening and engaging with team members. The committee provides a platform to brainstorm ideas that will keep TFJG an exciting and prosperous place to work.

As a TFJG employee, you have Human Resources to thank for standing in as your biggest advocate.
Be the Solution Winners
Congratulations to the following team members for taking extraordinary measures to  Be the Solution  at their communities:

Blake Huffman, Property Accountant, The Franklin Johnston Group
Blake was nominated by Megan Kovacevich, Community Manager at Spring Water, for his ability to train others and for his significant role in the property's accomplishments. "From the moment I came to Spring Water, Blake Huffman (our accountant), has been amazing! I am not a numbers person but thankfully Blake has been able to help me understand the accounting side. Whenever I email Blake, which is weekly if not daily sometimes, he always responds quickly. Not only does he get back to us quickly but he takes the time to explain things to us. This has helped me to not repeatedly make silly mistakes and has also helped us understand why accountants need invoices coded and batches posted a certain way. Blake has played a VERY large role in Spring Water's success this year!"

Thomas Beasley, Maintenance Supervisor, Spring Water
Thomas has been nominated twice by his manager, Megan Kovecvich, for going above and beyond on a regular basis. Megan first noticed in March when a resident wrote a review raving about the service he provided. Recently, the bowling alley was having issues during a resident's 40th birthday party, and although Thomas was not the maintenance personnel on call, Megan contacted him - at 10 am on a Saturday- because he had the most experience.  His response was, "Of course I will come in!" The following week, Thomas wanted to ensure the grounds were perfectly maintained.  Megan wrote:  " I was driving into work and was thrilled to see our maintenance supervisor, Thomas Beasley, picking up trash around the surrounding area of Spring Water. Maintenance is required to pick up trash on Spring Water's property but Tommy said the median areas were covered with trash from cars littering over the weekend. He told me, "The trash on the medians make Spring Water look bad and I won't have that." That comment impressed me and really shows that Tommy cares about Spring Water and the public's perception of Spring Water."

Jo Snow, Leasing Agent, English Oaks
Jo was nominated by Matt McBroom, Portfolio Manager, and Dee McCabe, Compliance Specialist.  "Jo Snow is an amazing person and employee. She is extremely eager to learn and retains information quickly. She takes every chance she gets to learn more. I am really proud of her and all she has accomplished in the short time I have worked with her."

Vic Newton, Maintenance Supervisor, River House
Vic was nominated by his manager, Jenny Humphries, who wrote, "Vic always does a fantastic job keeping River House running smoothly and looking its best, but this week, he really stepped up to the plate when a sister community needed help. One of our sister properties did not have any maintenance personnel last week and this week due to unforeseen circumstances, and they had several AC calls amongst other things that needed to be taken care of ASAP. Vic went over there to help a few times a week and even on Saturday to take care of the issues. Vic demonstrated not only teamwork by his willingness to help, but also his organization skills by being able to keep River House running smoothly even while not on site and having to tend to another property."

Don't forget to nominate your fellow team members for the chance to win TFJG's "Be the Solution" award. Send detailed nominations in to cstrait@tfjgroup.com Winners are selected every Friday in 2017 and receive a  $100 gift card and one paid day off!
