Summer used to belong to sun, surf, and cinema screens, dating all the way back to the June 1975 release of Steven Spielberg's "JAWS." But with the proliferation of big-budget comic book adaptations being released year 'round, not to mention the 21st century rebirth of television in all of its forms, some experts are wondering if the summer movie season is beginning to lose its foothold on pop culture.
While this month's crowdpleaser "Wonder Woman" continues to generate buzz, other star-driven vehicles - such as Johnny Depp's fifth go around as Captain Jack Sparrow and Tom Cruise's monster mash "The Mummy" - are having a trickier time at the box office (and with critics).
