Diagnosed with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR TB), after working in East Africa, Khayr Abdi shares his story with healthcare professionals to lessen the physical and psychological side effects of future patients undergoing TB treatment. At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe two ways of communicating with TB patients that diminishes stigma of the disease to promote successful completion of treatment.
  • Identify some of the challenges and successes of a TB survivor’s experience with healthcare professionals to better inform future patient interactions
