Happy New Year!

I could get used to working a two day week ... but I think that only happens on the Hallmark channel! Here at St. Michael's Academy, we're back at work. During the past two days, the students and teachers re-acquainted themselves to where they left off back in December and then took stock of what needs to be done. The realization that the January 17th end of quarter date is looming just two quick weeks away certainly helped jump start every one back into action!

And for you parents, your work went home in your child's backpack today. We're looking for lots of help with our annual Catholic Schools Week activities. You will find several paper flyers that were sent home, many of which are repeated in various sections of the newsletter below. An important part of the festivities is the second annual fundraiser, the Calendar Raffle. The calendars went home today and we ask that each family sell five if possible. As we always say, this is only one of two fundraisers that we hold every year and we really need everyone's help and support! We really "hit it out of the ballpark" this year with the Walk-a-thon and would really like to do the same with the calendar raffle. And finally, new this year is a special Catholic Schools Week Mass that will be held at St. Michael's Cathedral on State Street. Each Catholic school in the Diocese has been asked to send ten families. Please consider joining us and showing your St. Michael's Academy pride!

Peace and God's blessings,

Ms. Ann E. Dougal
Principal

 Sharing Our Faith

School Mass

We thank Fr. Tom Shea for celebrating Mass with us today.  What a great way to get back into the swing of school!  Fr. Shea spoke of the Magi arriving in Bethlehem to worship the newborn king and the meaning of Epiphany.  He also encouraged the students to choose one thing every day that they could try to do better and that they would be amazed at the results!

Thank you to our 8th grade students who served as altar servers, readers and choir members.

 Calendar Sales

  Pasta Supper  and Calendar Raffle

Happy New Year! We are so pleased to begin 2020 with our annual Calendar Raffle fundraiser! The Calendar Raffle provides three ways for students and families to get involved and support St. Michael's Academy.

First, families are given five (5) calendars to sell for $10 each to friends, relatives, and neighbors. Those who purchase the calendar will have 29 chances to win prizes up to $500! The families who sell all five calendars will receive a Uniform Free Day!

Second , families may purchase tickets for our Mangia and Mingle Pasta Dinner on Saturday, February 1st (tickets must be purchased in advance).   At the dinner, the names of 29 lucky winners will be drawn and all will be given a chance to enjoy food and fellowship with the St. Michael's Academy community!

Third, each grade will donate a themed prize basket to be raffled off at the Pasta Dinner on February 1st. This provides ten more chances to win while you dine! A listing of the themes for each grade were sent home with your child today.  Please send in your grade themed item as soon as you can!  Completed baskets are due by January 24th.

We have a lot of fun ahead!

 Pasta Supper

 Pasta Supper Coming Up!

As we mentioned up above, our annual Pasta Supper will be held on Saturday, February 1st from 5 - 7 p.m. in the gymnasium.

We are looking for volunteers for a variety of jobs at the supper from decorating, cooking, serving and clean-up.  Please note that we no longer have the Knights of Columbus cooking for us and we are REALLY in need of cooks.  If you have any experience, please consider volunteering.  A volunteer form came home with many others today!

Avoid the last minute rush and get your tickets early!  They are now on sale - $5 for adults, $3 for children aged 3-12 and FREE for children under 3.

A ticket sales flyer came home with your child and can be used to purchase tickets.  Please note that tickets will NOT be sold at the door. Need another order form? Click here!

 A Basket For Every Grade!

OK students, it's time to start assembling our grade level gift baskets that will be raffled off at the Pasta Supper!
