NASTT is pleased to co-sponsor its New Installations Good Practices Guidelines Course with the NASTT BC Chapter on March 5, 2020 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm in the Cambie Room at the Raddison Hotel Vancouver Airport , 8181 Cambie Road, Richmond, BC.

NASTT's Mission: Quality Education & Training Programs

Our mission is to advance trenchless technology and to promote its benefits for the public and the environment by offering quality educational training programs on various trenchless methods. NASTT  will deliver a comprehensive. consensus-based course outline that is non-commercial and academically oriented. Our instructors are experts and respected leaders in their fields of expertise.

Course Objective

The NASTT New Installation Methods Good Practices Course is geared to address numerous trenchless methods commonly used in North America to install new pipe and conduit. This will include: auger boring, pipe ramming, pipe jacking and pilot tube methods. The target audience is contractors, municipal and utility employees, consulting engineers, inspectors and industry practitioners.

NASTT Course Instructors

Glenn Boyce

Glenn is a Principal with McMillen Jacobs Assoicates in Walnut Creek, CA. Glenn earned his BS and MS in Civil Enginneering from Drexel University in Philadelphia before moving out west to receive his PhD in Geological Engineering from the Univeristy of California at Berkeley. Glenn is a registered professional engineer in six states, Canada and Hong Kong; and has co-authored over 75 publications in the area of microtunneling, trenchless methods, and tunneling. In 2009 Glenn was named "Trenchless Technology Person of the Year". He was awarded ASCE"s Stephen D. Bechtel Pipeline Engineering Award in 2017 for his numerous contributions to the engineering profession including being a principal author for the Microtunneling Standard, Pilot Tube Manual of Practice (MOP), and Pipe Ramming MOP. He is a past chair of NASTT and the course developer/instructor of NASTT's New Installation Methods short course.

Norman Joyal

Norman is a civil and geotechnical engineer for over 39 years, focusing primarily on trenchless projects for the last 25 years. His strong geotechnical background and familiarity with all the trenchless methods allows him to focus on trenchless projects spearheading preliminary site assessments for the feasibility of trenchless applications, preliminary and final alignment and layout, geometrics,pipe or casing designs, and the preparation of specifications for trenchless projects. Norman has been involved with NASTT since the mid 1990s and presented his first paper at No-Dig in 2001. He is an active participant as a presenter or co-author on papers at the No-Dig conferences and is WESTT's former treasurer.
