South Central 4-H Teen Retreat
Attention Teens ages 13-19!!  The South Central District 4-H Teen Retreat will be held March 7-8, 2020 at Millstone 4-H Educational Center in Ellerbe, NC.  This is a great time to meet other 4-Her's from other counties and attend workshops to develop and enhance your leadership skills.  Cost to attend is $65.00 and is due by Thursday, February 13th.  


Save the Date!
The 2019 4-H Achievement Night will be held on Monday, March 16, 2020 at the N.C. Cooperative Extension-Alexander County Center.  Please make your meal reservations by Monday, March 9th. 

Alexander County Commissioners Choice Awards
Applications are now available at the Extension Center for Commissioners Choice Awards. The is a great opportunity for clubs to be recognized for their volunteer efforts in 2019. The process is very simple and if a club places in the top 3 there are monetary awards available.   Each club can also nominate and individual for the Community Spark Award if they have not received it in the past.  Awards will be presented at the Alexander County Commissioners Meeting on Monday, April 6th.   If you need more information please call the Extension Center at 828-632-4451Applications are due on Monday, March 23, 2020.  For an application click on the following link:  2020 Application Form.

It's Time to Re-enroll or Enroll in 4-H Online!!
Take a few minutes and please update your profile or if you have never enrolled in 4-H Online please do so.  If you plan to be active in a 4-H Club or enroll in any of our 4-H events you have to be enrolled in 4-H Online.  Below is the link:   https://nc.4honline.com/Login.aspx

NC 4-H Camp
Want to attend 4-H Camp at the Eastern 4-H Center in Columbia, NC this summer?  Great!!  Alexander 4-H will be taking a group June 21-26, 2020.  4-H Camp is open to youth ages 8-14 and offers a variety based upon age.  If you would like more information please contact the N.C. 4-H in the  News

Shockers 4-H Club met in January and learned how to use a continuity tester to troubleshoot their recent soldering projects.  Submitted by:  Colin Ritchie

Southern Grace 4-H Club met  in January and practiced hand sewing with yarn on plastic canvas, and learned to read a pattern.  They used these to make cute heart magnets for the Valentine season!

Whisk it Up 4-H Club  had their first meeting of 2020. They started the Exploring Food Science Curriculum with Unit 1.  They made cinnamon rolls and talked about the basics of quick and yeast breads.  The club will have a workshop on February 17th where they are going to cook different items. The workshop will last from 8:00-2:00 at the N.C. Cooperative Extension-Alexander County Center. If you are interested in attending please contact  Anna  Beth Harris (email:  [email protected] ). Those who attend need to pack a lunch for the workshop. Their next regular meeting is on February 28th at 4:00.
