GOING DEEP this Sunday
Hebrews: Shaking the Kingdom | Tony Johns - St. Luke Room
This class continues into February, but will not meet on January 26.
The book of Hebrews is a deeply rich theological masterpiece with an intention to change he hearts of its readers. The letter addresses a community that is struggling to understand in the face of their experience of persecution: why God’s people suffer, how they should live as community in light of their suffering, and the role of suffering in God’s redemptive plan. This book looks at Jesus’ identity as priest and sacrifice, and draws us into his deeply human experience to help us better understand our own. Join us as we wrestle with faith and hope alongside the community of the Hebrews.

Each Sunday for six weeks from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., St. Luke’s is offering additional opportunities and space to learn, have fun, and just enjoy being together. We’re breaking this time down into three one-hour segments - with Sunday dinner served in the middle hour. Sunday morning worship and Christian education remain the same, we’re just adding more opportunities and stretching our time at St. Luke’s until 2 p.m. or so. Everyone is welcome - if it fits your schedule. All clergy will continue to be present at the 11:15 a.m. service.

Ed's mid-week class:
Joy to the World: Christianity’s New Narrative of Faith, Science, and Kindness For All Creation
Epiphany Book Study | Wednesday evenings, January 8-February 19
Ed Bacon continues his exploration of a Universal Christianity free from the “fall and redemption” view of God as up there and out there who “sent” Jesus to die for our sins. Using “The Book of Joy” by the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Ed will explore the understanding that God is not a Christian but rather is interwoven and active in every member of Creation. Ed is writing a new book on “Holy Atheism.” This class will be a synthesis of Ed’s learnings from mysticism, science, and contemporary theologians who are rooted in love and oneness.
Please register so Ed will know who to expect:
