| Register Today: Hospital-Based Incident Command Systems: Small and Rural Hospitals Webinar |
| Hospital-based incident command systems (e.g., HICS) have been used formally in U.S. hospitals since the late 1970s as a way to manage incidents, coordinate resources and communications, and collaborate with community-based response agencies. Despite their widespread adoption and use, there is very little published information available on lessons learned, best practices, and real-world adaptation of these systems. This free webinar (the second in our series) is scheduled for March 12, 2019, from 1:00-2:30 PM ET and will feature speakers from small and rural hospitals who have experienced a recent emergency and activated their hospital-based incident command systems. The speakers will provide a brief overview of the incident, describe how they implemented their incident command system, share lessons learned and tools for small and rural hospitals, and discuss how they have incorporated these lessons into their current systems and plans. March 7-8, 2019 The 9th Annual Healthcare Disaster Preparedness Symposium (Miami, FL) will cover Healthcare Preparation and Response to Disasters and Emergencies including Mass Casualty Incidents from lessons learned and evidenced based material. Check out the ASPR TRACIE and CMS: Emergency Preparedness Rule Compliance, Expectations, and Resources session on March 8 from 10:30am-12:00pm. March 19-20, 2019 Learn more about ASPR TRACIE at the Virginia Public Health and Healthcare Preparedness Academy (Virginia Beach, VA) on March 20 from 1:00-2:00pm. The academy provides a venue where participants are exposed to current information, research findings, and practical tools to strengthen public health and healthcare preparedness in Virginia.
March 27-28, 2019 ASPR TRACIE will be featured in two presentations at NACCHOs 2019 Preparedness Summit. The first, Tools to Improve Special Pathogen Readiness, will be held from 3:30-5:00 PM on March 27. Speakers from ASPR, New York City Health + Hospitals, Nebraska Medicine, and Minnesota Department of Health will demonstrate new tools designed to assist jurisdictions in improving their readiness to manage suspected special pathogen patients. Our poster, Engaging Non-Traditional Partners in the Disaster Healthcare Delivery System, will be presented on March 28, from 12:00-3:30 PM and will highlight recent ASPR TRACIE projects involving healthcare settings not traditionally engaged in emergency management activities (e.g., urgent care centers, Federally Qualified Health Centers, Rural Health Centers, home health care, and hospice). Experts from TRACIE and other ASPR programs will be available at the ASPR exhibit booth to discuss the latest preparedness, response, and recovery resources and best practices. April 17-19, 2019 The Georgia EMAG Conference (Savannah, GA) features speakers and sessions designed for emergency management professionals, public health, healthcare coalitions, and others. Check out the ASPR TRACIE Healthcare Emergency Preparedness Resources at Your Fingertips Useful Guidance and Lessons Learned from Recent Incidents session on April 17, from 1:30-2:45 PM. |
