Webinar Education Series:
Identify and Combat Elder Abuse
Thursday, April 26th/10:00 am

Abuse can happen in many forms. It's important to know how to spot it and how to put an end to it. As champions of healthcare, Districts often experience Elder Abuse cases and ACHD would like to offer a resource for communities on how to handle those situations.

Our webinar on Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse will be presented by the California Association of Area Agencies on Aging (C4A) and the Merced County Human Services Agency and will feature Alexandra Pierce,  Deputy Director of Merced County Human Services Agency, Adult and Aging Services. Ms. Pierce will provide resources for community members about where to go to learn more about recognizing the signs of elder abuse and how to report potential elder abuse.

During this session, attendees will receive information about the following:
  • Basic understanding of the types of Elder and Dependent Adult abuse recognized in California.
  • Describe signs or indicators of potential abuse and neglect.
  • Identify when to report allegations of abuse/neglect.
  •  Know the appropriate agency to make a report of potential abuse/neglect.
  • Knowledge of awareness efforts and resources available locally and statewide.
  • Identify opportunities to participate in awareness and outreach activities, including the use of social media.
Participates should expect to have a better idea of how to recognize Elder and Dependent Adult abuse and how to prevent elder abuse in the community.
