AriSEIA Action Updates
Action Needed: SCR 1048
Senator Gowan introduced SCR 1048, which proposes an amendment to the Arizona constitution that would require Corporation Commissioners to be appointed by the Governor, rather than being elected by the public. It's important to voice your concerns about this because this regulatory body makes many significant decisions in our state that impact all of us. If passed, this resolution will move to the ballot, where Arizona voters will decide whether or not it is ultimately enacted. We encourage you all to record your position on this resolution. You can do so using the AZ Leg Request to Speak (RTS) tool. Visit their how-to guide to learn more about the RTS System.

TEP Interconnection Rules Violations:
Last month, we sent an email out to all AriSEIA members informing them about updates regarding TEP Interconnection Rules violations, and how to add a complaint to the docket in order to be sure that the ACC sees complaints from all individuals who wish to make them! If you did not receive this email, click here for information, and how to file a complaint.

SRP Battery Updates and Board Elections:
SRP will hold Board Elections on April 7, 2020. Click here to fill out an electronic form to request a ballot. Click here for more SRP election information. To learn more about how to vote in the election, check out this blog from AriSEIA member company, SunHarvest Solar.

Local and National Updates
At a Crossroads: The Connected Future of EVs, Solar, Energy Storage and Software
As a new decade dawns, there's cause for optimism that the 2020s will see the transition to clean energy accelerate. Prices of renewable energy and battery technologies are at an all-time low, and the number of electric vehicle (EV) sales are on the rise. Analysts predict that by 2040, more than half of all vehicles on the road will be electric. With transportation contributing to nearly 30% of greenhouse gas emissions, electrifying how people get from point A to point B is a critical step in reducing our global carbon footprint.

Solar Industry Waits to Assess Ripple Effects From China’s Coronavirus Outbreak
The novel coronavirus, a respiratory illness that’s sickened more than 17,000 and killed more than 360 people in China as of Feb. 3, may impact the Chinese-rooted solar energy supply chain, potentially contributing to labor shortages, equipment delays and global price increases. Determining the full impact of the virus is currently impossible due to high uncertainty. Cases of the virus, which originated in the Chinese province of Hubei, are still rising and have been reported in more than 20 other countries.

She’s Taking on Elon Musk on Solar. And Winning.
Lynn Jurich, the chief executive of the residential solar company Sunrun, starts every morning with a mantra: “All people and all circumstances are my allies.” It’s a relentlessly positive outlook, and one that has served her well as she overachieved her way from the woods of Washington State to the pinnacle of Silicon Valley.
