6th Sunday after Epiphany

In Sunday’s reading from Deuteronomy we are called to choose life by loving and obeying God. Much of the gospel reading echoes portions of the Ten Commandments. Jesus’ instructions to the crowd reveal a pattern of behavior that honors both God and the neighbor, resulting in life and health for the whole community. We too are invited to embrace these commandments, not out of fear of retribution, but because God has promised that to do so means life for us.

The scripture readings for this week include:

AdventELC's theme for the year is: See Christ Clearly in 2020. We look to direct our attention and energy in two ways: seeing Christ clearly personally and showing Christ clearly to the world.

Adult Bible Study digs into how we got the Bible
Every Sunday from 10am-10:45am all adults are welcome to the Adult Sunday School Class.

Our class just started looking at the Books between the two Testaments: What Christians Should Know about the Apocrypha.

We are all starting from basically the same place. Don't know what the Apocrypha is, neither do most of us! Come with your curiosity and join the journey!
Donations are Needed

Midweek Lenten Series Announced
What is faith? The text from Hebrews 11:1 defines it in this way:  “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”

This series focuses on the book of Hebrews, especially the eleventh chapter. The first four weeks provide a journey through the faith of the Old Testament figures, especially Noah, Abraham, Moses, and the Israelites. The fifth week brings us to Jesus, “the perfecter of our faith,” and his path to the cross.
Join us for this wonderful worship series as well as our FREE Soup Supper! Every Wednesday all are welcome to sit down for some food and fellowship. Fill your stomach and your heart as we get to know each other and worship with on another!

Willing to Help?
If you have First Aid Certification and would be willing to help out in case of an emergency until assistance arrives, please let Holly Cronau know.

Every Picture Can Tell God's Story
What use do you make of the photographs you've taken or received? Have you ever thought of using them as a way to witness to Jesus' saving love and God's power and provision in our lives? The images you've captured through the lens of your camera can tell God's story in a unique, creative, and compelling way.
Join us as we create "Witness Books" in keeping with the church's theme of seeing God clearly in 2020. We will be using photographs, Bible verses, hymns, prayers and poems. Join us at 10:00 in the church Narthex. Bring your Bible. For more information, call Julie Page 614-519-1014 or Jane Moore 734-735-1216.
AdventELC Window Stickers

Feel free to take one for each car and take pride in your church!
