 MindSet Instructor Certification Training

White's Residential and Family Services 

Since 1999 the MindSet Safety Management Training Curriculum has assisted Public Schools, Behavioral Health Care Agencies, Hospitals, Group Homes, and Foster Care Organizations by providing Instructor Cretification in “emergency safety intervention training.”

MindSet provides the much needed emphasis on prevention and de-escalation to assist in creating a culture of prevention. Our goal is to set in motion a process resulting in De-Escalation becoming commonplace. Staff must recognize maladaptive and irrational behavior in order to promote a safe environment for everyone involved. We also provide training on physical containment as a last resort in the case of immediate danger.

Our principle-based, empathy-driven approach honors the dignity of everyone involved. We provide instructor certification in a train-the-trainer model to assist Schools, Agencies, and Organizations working with individuals of all ages who display challenging behavior. We focus on proactive strategies while recognizing the importance of creating and maintaining physical and emotional safety.

The crisis communication skills provided in our workshops prepare staff to function in a solution-oriented, rather than problem-oriented framework. Through avoiding power struggles and acknowledging potential crisis situations your staff, and the individuals that you serve learn to become self-managed and confident. Understanding that it is through conflict that we develop problem solving and coping skills allows us to accept crisis for what it is; experiential learning.

MindSet Instructors can make a significant impact upon the culture and climate of their organization through the use of our de-escalation language and provide specific training relative to physical restraint. We encourage the use of the MindSet Communication model to manage conflict across all settings. 

Tier I, II and III intervention training should include conflict resoultion, de-escalation, and crisis mangement. MindSet can assist those in conflict and reduce Office Discipline Referrals by keeping minor events from escalating into conduct problems.

MindSet Foundations

Staff can become certified trainers of MIndSet Foundations which includes all of part one of our curriculum; Principles, De-escalation, Crisis Communication, and Avoidance. We realize that there are many organizations that do not authorize the use of physical restraint. Therefore it would be more appropriate to send staff to our Foundations Training. To become an Instructor of MindSet Foundations you will only need to attend the first two days of this training.
