GGAHU was represented at this years NAHU Capital Conference by current President Sue Wakamoto-Lee, Past-President Cathy Little, Region 8 VP Patrick Burns, Legislative Chair Janet Powelson, Treasurer Janine Wilson and HUPAC/PAC Chair Rick Coburn. We were able to meet with staff from all of our area House Representatives: Rep. DeSaulnier, Rep. Lee, Rep. Speier and Rep. Swalwell. We carried the message of the role of the agent and asked for their support to repeal the Cadillac Tax and HIT as well as stop the practice of surprise billing. If you havent already be sure to take part in the Operation Shout to Tell Congress to Permanently Repeal the Cadillac/Excise Tax!" and Pass H.R. 1398 and S. 172 to Extend the Premium Tax Relief!"
CapCon attendees were honored by Secretary Azars surprise appearance in the General Session. His comments included the work the Administration is doing to reduce prescription drug costs, increase access and quality of care, and eliminate surprise billing. (Insert photo of Azar) If you would like to be involved with the Capitol Summit in Sacramento, May 20 22, or our adopt a legislator program, please contact Janet Powelson at [email protected]

President at K B Berry & Assoc., Inc. My passion is to identify innovative solutions to lower cost and improve quality for self-funded medical and prescription drug plans. I started my career as a Clinical and Retail Pharmacist. I transitioned into the administrative arena of healthcare first as a Third-Party Administrator (TPA) paying self-funded medical claims, then a CPA auditing self-funded medical and prescription drug plans, and lastly as a benefits consultant.
