The Lenders Cup

All of the lenders listed above, along with any other bank or credit union that has a project authorized by EDF prior to September 1, 2018, will be eligible to compete in The Lenders Cup Golf Tournament! Last year was our inaugural event and the traveling trophy went home with Traverse City State Bank! This year's event will take place on September 13, 2018 at Thornapple Pointe Golf Course . Each lending institution will have the opportunity to submit a foursome to compete.
Recently EDF had the opportunity to provide project financing for The Sanford House, a rehabilitation center in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Sanford House facilities are uniquely situated to provide an urban experience, near many “real life” downtown locations as well as close to numerous parks and walking trails. These natural, out-of-doors backdrops give practical application to their evidence-based treatment programs.

The first facility was established for women in 2014 located at 540 Cherry Street. Building on the success of the Women’s facility, the owner’s opened a men’s facility in late 2017, providing much needed assistance to both men and women from around the country. With the assistance of Bradd Pierce, EDF Senior Loan Officer, Doug Holtrop and Nate Golomb, Commercial Lenders, at Mercantile Bank of Michigan, The Sanford House was purchased and remodeled and then opened for business.

The Sanford Houses are privately held and offer an environment that is homelike, intimate and decidedly non-institutional which allows them to focus on personalized, individual client care. The business provides treatment programs and services through resident and outpatient programs. Sanford House approaches substance use disorders as chronic diseases and equips patients with the tools, practices, and support they need for life in recovery.

"The Economic Development Foundation guided us through the 504 Loan process while learning all about our new business venture. The privately held addiction treatment business is uncommon in Michigan, and through the efforts of the EDF, we were able to establish a new blueprint for the delivery of mental health services in our hometown of Grand Rapids. We are up and running and serving clients with substance use disorder at near capacity," said one of the owners at The Sanford House.
