RESA Monthly Update
January 2020


The due date for your RESA Lesson Reflection is drawing near. Please don't wait until the last minute to submit the Lesson Reflection requirements. You never know what might happen to interfere with submission and there is NO WAY to extend or change the due date.
 

Important RESA Dates:

  • RESA Submission System Opens - October 15, 2019
  • CORE Registration Deadline - November 15, 2019
  • Lesson Reflection Submission Deadline - January 24, 2020
  • RESA Score Reports Released - April 24, 2020
RESA LESSON REFLECTION REQUIREMENTS

Teachers submit 3 items:

  1. Teaching and Learning Context Form p. 10
  2. Video Recording of the Lesson p. 11
  3. Video Commentary and Reflection Form p. 12-13
 
Time to Reflect-
RESA Lesson Reflection Expectation
  • Record a single lesson that demonstrates your ability to teach meaningful content to your students.
  • Analyze your planning decisions for this lesson.
  • Choose an illustration of your actual teaching in a video segment that is up to 20 minutes long.
  • Explain your learning outcomes for this lesson and why they are important in the context of the subject area.
  • Explain your formative assessment strategy.
  • Demonstrate your instruction (using the video segment).
  • Evaluate and reflect on the success of the entire lesson.
  • Continue to work with your Facilitator.
RESA Submission System
There are two Parts to the RESA Submission System:

1. What I need to know
  • Online version of guidebook
  • Video tutorial on how to upload and submit work
  • Templates that must be downloaded and completed OFF LINE

2. What I need to submit
  • Completed templates and video

For assistance in uploading your video refer to the Technical Reference Guide (p. 30-34) in your binder. This section will assist you with the following:

  • Downloading and Completing Templates
  • Preparing to Record Video
  • Uploading and Segmenting Video
  • Submitting the Lesson Reflection
  • Recommendations for Recording Video
  • Accessing Equipment and Other Video Resources
  • Practicing Beforehand
