MAPS RV VOLUNTEERS ARE A LIFE-LINE
by Sharon Page
Maps RV Volunteer, Tom
It was a Thursday afternoon, June of 2016. Having just completed a church building project in Poyen, Arkansas, RVer, Tom turns to his wife, Betty, to say that he can now sit down and rest.  However, Friday offered a "call to go." When Tom read the email that Hillcrest needed volunteers who could help with some electrical work, he knew God was leading; God was calling.  With tears in his eyes, Tom expresses "There's nothing like working for the Lord; putting in the time for Him. There's nothing like volunteering for the less fortunate."

RV Maps Volunteer, Betty
Each MAPS RVer comes to the Hillcrest Campus with his or her own unique skill set. Betty, who has tremendous organizational skills, manages the warehouse that stores all of the donated items.  Because folks like Tom and Betty volunteer their time and are willing to use their gifts to add value to the ministry here at Hillcrest, hundreds of children each year find hope and stability in a loving God.

RV Maps Volunteer, Gordy
Gordy and Marva have been with us since October 2017.  Marva who is not retired, is grateful that she is able to work remotely and volunteer her time as well. Often, one will find Marva assisting Betty at the warehouse and both having fun in the process! Gordy, a master craftsman, has used his skills to add value to the campus in many ways.  Presently, Gordy is completing the construction of new kitchen cabinets for three of our cottages.
The Hillcrest Campus is continuously progressing; therefore, a project is always in the works.

Randall Gant, our assistant administrator, states that the RVers are "a life-line for our campus." Because of the RV MAPS volunteers, several projects have been completed or implemented in the last several months:  new electric installed, construction of bike shelters, the construction of a new greenhouse, cosmetic repairs to the Hinson House, the framing of a new intern apartment and the remodel of the new IT building. Randall expressed the sentiment of us all when he said, "We would be lost without them!"  A few weeks ago, when a pipe burst in one of our cottages, causing extensive flooding and damage, the RV volunteers sprang into action to help with clean up and repair.  The RVers were present during one of our greatest needs and we are so grateful!

Throughout the years, Hillcrest Children's Home has been blessed by such big-hearted, hard-working RV Maps Volunteers like Tom and Betty, Gordy and Marva, and many others, who come and voluntarily give of their time. They leave their fingerprints on the Hillcrest campus and are forever woven into the fabric of this great ministry.

SIBLING HOUSEPARENTS
We are hiring Houseparents for a sibling cottage!

COMPACT takes pride in the ability to bring siblings together. Over the years we have seen hundreds of siblings reunited on our campus. Large sibling groups from broken homes are often separated and unable to see each other. Here at COMPACT, we have the ability to bring these groups together by putting them in a sibling cottage. We teach them how to love like a sibling and give them the opportunity to grow and heal together.
Join us as Houseparents for a group of siblings and help us reunite vulnerable children and family.
