February 16, 2016
Brrrr! It's cold out there! Sources is hosting our third "Coldest Night of the Year" fundraiser on February 20. Walk with us along the White Rock promenade and help us fundraise $70,000 for Homeless Prevention Services.

Local resident and realtor Cindy Walker (top left) is part of the promotions committee and also has a team for the walk. "We were so intrigued about what this fundraiser is about and where the money is going," she said. "It's such a worthwhile cause and it all directly benefits families in our community. We're excited to approach businesses and restaurants in South Surrey and White Rock to come on board and become part of this exciting night."

RICK FRIESEN: "We recently had a retreat where we talked about giving back to the community that we live and earn our livings in, and came up with a vision statement:  Together we create better living and working environments. We have a long history in South Surrey, so our intention with our Lead Sponsorship of $5,000 to Sources and Coldest Night of the Year was the direct result of wanting to give back to the community in a more meaningful way. Local communities' needs aren't necessarily receiving the amount of support that they had in the past, as they compete with world issues that are also a compelling draw for people's cash.  We recognize that the challenges in our communities are great and the need is great.   We feel that because we live and work here, it's a perfect opportunity to try and give back."
Lead Sponsor - Bray Enterprises Ltd.
STEPHANIE TAGGART: "Elkay is a partner of ours, so when they said, "Let's go in and help out Sources," we also donated $5,000 at the Lead Sponsor level. Supporting our community is important to us because we were born and raised in White Rock, and our company has been in business here for 47 years. Keeping money in the local community is important because there are people here in need, there are homeless moms and kids in our streets. We own a trailer park that houses over 100 people that use Sources' services quite a bit. I see people return from Sources Food Bank and face limits on the food they can purchase when they are on the verge of being homeless, in contrast to those working in offices where people go out for lunch daily, it really makes you think. I want people to be aware and I think Coldest Night is a good idea to get people out in the cold and walk and see what it's like to be homeless in a sense."
