Village Council to Hold Public Hearing on Beach-Related $6m Bond Referendum
Friday, March 16th at 2:30pm
BHA's Association Center
The Village Council will hold a public hearing on Friday, March 16th at 2:30pm during its regular monthly meeting to discuss the proposed $6m bond referendum for the coastal storm damage reduction project. The meeting will be held at BHA's Association Center.

Village of BHI to Hold Public Hearing on Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance
Friday, March 16th at 2:30pm

Also at its regular March meeting, the Village Council will hold a public hearing to update the flood damage prevention ordinance in order for the new flood insurance rate map to become effective and stay in compliance with the National Flood Insurance Program.

Island-wide Spring Litter Sweep
Saturday, March 31st; 11am-1pm
Meet at Fire Station
Join friends and neighbors for the next Island-wide litter sweep on Saturday, March 31st from 11am - 1pm. Meet at the Fire Station and pick up bags, gloves and grabbers then pick a portion of the Island to clean. Prizes for the most unusual litter found.

BHI Conservancy's Lecture Series
'Imaging the Battle of the Atlantic'

The BHI Conservancy will continue its lecture series with a presentation on visually documenting World War II off the coast of North Carolina. John McCord of the UNC Coastal Studies Institute will discuss imaging the battle of the Atlantic on Thursday, March 16th at the BHI Club.
Cocktails will begin at 5:30pm (cash bar) and the speaker will begin at 6pm. Dinner will be at 7pm.

Village Council Meeting

The Village Council's next regular meeting will be on Friday, March 16th at the Association Center. The work session will start at 9:30am and the regular meeting begins at 2:30pm.
BHI property owners are highly encouraged to attend this meeting as it will be an opportunity to hear about and speak on two issues of critical importance to the Island - the proposed bond
referendum on coastal storm damage reduction and the change to the flood damage prevention ordinance, which is a step toward certification of the new flood rate maps.

BADWATER Cape Fear Ultramarathon is
Race begins at 7:45am at Old Baldy
The 2018 BADWATER Cape Fear Ultramarathon is coming next weekend, with the race beginning at 7:45am at Old Baldy on Saturday. There are over 200 registered runners from six countries and 28 American states, districts or territories who will run either the 50km or 51-mile courses.
Please be sure to watch out for the visiting racers next weekend.

Village Chapel of BHI
RE-CYCLE Project Update
Plans are moving along for the big bicycle collection day planned by the Village Chapel in cooperation with the Bicycle Man Project in Fayetteville, a NC non-profit that collects, repairs and restores used bicycles for underprivileged children in five area counties. Bikes that are too old to be restored will be taken apart and used for parts.
Chapel volunteers will be on hand at the old tent site in the Harbour on Saturday, March 31st from 8am until noon to collect your used bicycles, no mattered how old and battered. If you can't make it that day to drop off your bikes, contact Darryl Early

[email protected]) to arrange for a pick-up. All donors will receive a coupon from Island Hardware for 10% off the price of a new bike plus free assembly. If you have questions, contact Gayle Sanders (
