Two major news organizations held events of significance to the San Jose business community in  February: The Registry's Silicon Valley Update 2018 on February 15, where OED Director Kim Walesh served as a presenter and panelist and Silicon Valley Business Journal's Future of Diridon Development on Feb. 22, at which Nanci Klein, OED Assistant Director gave the keynote and served on a panel.

Silicon Valley's commercial real estate markets clocked another good year in 2017, and there appears to be more gas left in the tank.
That's the word from Dave Schmidt, executive vice president with Colliers International, at the brokerage's Trends event held Feb. 13. It was the 19th go-round for the event, which drew hundreds to Downtown San Jose's California Theater for a little real estate, and plenty of politics and economic prognostication.

San Jose Ranked #3 Most Diverse Big City in U.S.Diversity

In a   recent survey of US cities (not Statistical Metro Areas) in terms of diversity, WalletHub ranked San Jose as the #3 most diverse of the largest U.S. cities, with New York at #1 and Oakland at #2. Compared to all 500 U.S. cities in the survey, San Jose came in at #8. WalletHub is personal finance website, and their survey compared U.S. cities in terms of ethnoracial diversity, linguistic diversity and birthplace diversity.

Clandestine Brewing celebrated a Grand Opening in its new location at 980 South First Street, with Councilmembers Raul Peralez and Johnny Khamis, and OED Director Kim Walesh. The brewery and tap room had been located just north of The Plant in an industrial area, and offers an intriguing and eclectic selection of beers with names like Wicked Brick and Milky Way Stout. Check out the  ribbon-cutting video!

Sonic Runway Closes With Fashion Show and FestivalFashionShow

A  farewell event will be held March 9, 2018, for the closing of the popular Sonic Runway installation at City Hall.  Featured will be a fashion show using Sonic Runway and a marketplace in the Rotunda, 7-10 pm on Friday, March 9, 

The event is open to the public and free.
