Brady Destination Imagination Team Among Best at Globals
Congratulations to Brady Middle School’s Team Hedgehog Factory on placing sixth out of 87 teams at the Destination Imagination Global Competition in Knoxville, TN held last month. The team members, comprised of eighth graders Lyla Berns, Abby Thompson, Clara Briskin, Jaden Polster, and Mason Lurie, have competed together since the fourth grade.

OHS Student Wins National Merit Scholarship
Congratulations to Orange High School senior Isabel Sands on winning a National Merit Scholarship! This program is an academic competition that high school students enter by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. She plans to attend Yale University in the fall.

Bus Drivers Honored for Saving Co-Worker's Life
This spring, two Orange Schools bus drivers, Shannon Gross and Bernadette Marason, noticed fellow driver Joe Krozser showing heart attack symptoms. They immediately called 911, gave Joe an aspirin, and waited with him until the ambulance arrived. It was later learned Joe was, in fact, suffering a heart attack and was immediately taken into surgery. Ambulance and hospital workers said that the drivers' quick actions may have saved his life.

OHS Student Awarded at ISEF
At a special awards ceremony held last month during the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, Orange High School senior Michael Litt earned two awards for his project "MATCHLESS: A Linear Algebraic Approach to Duplicate File Identification." His recognitions include a First Place Award from Mu Alpha Theta, National High School and Two-Year College Mathematical Sciences Honor Society, and an Honorable Mention in "Science of Security" from the National Security Agency Research Directorate.

Project-Based Learning Showcased in Passion Projects
What happens when students combine a passion with an innovative learning opportunity? They code video games, design stop motion animation, create 3D drawings, record video guitar lessons, and write a multi-cultural cookbook. They design websites that teach about science, the environment, fitness, airplane construction and ADHD. All this and so much more were part of the Brady Middle School Passion Project.
