The Arizona Science and Engineering Fair (AzSEF) is the state fair for Arizona and is managed by Arizona Science Center. AzSEF brings together first-place winners from multiple district, county, and regional science fairs to compete for thousands of dollars in prizes and scholarships. The grand prize winners in the Senior Division from the state-level fair will be selected to compete at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). This year's ISEF will be held May 13-18 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Winners of the International Science and Engineering Fair will compete for multiple scholarships. These scholarships range from $500 - $75,000. We wish each of the FHHS participants the best of luck and hope to see multiple members of our school represent us at the State and National level.
Respectfully,
Paul McElligott, PhD

Flinn Scholar Finalist: Laura Anderson
I am truly honored to share that Laura is one of the remaining 40 Flinn Finalists for the Flinn scholarship. There were approximately 780 applications sent at the beginning of the process in October.
It is the premier merit-based scholarship in Arizona. The Flinn Foundation's mission "is to improve the quality of life in Arizona to benefit future generations. To achieve this mission, the Foundation aims to advance the state's bioscience sector, provide a top-notch education to high-achieving students at an Arizona public university, boost the fiscal and creative capacity of the state's arts and culture organizations, and develop future state-level civic leaders."
This HIGHLY competitive merit-based scholarship includes the cost of tuition at one of the three state universities, funding for room and board, support for at least two study-abroad experiences and an off-campus internship, university faculty mentorship, and many other benefits. The scholarship, supported by the Phoenix-based Flinn Foundation and universities, is valued at more than $115,000.
The next steps in the process include visiting the in-state universities with the other Flinn Finalists, and a final interview will take place on March 3rd. This interview will determine if Laura is designated as one of the 20 Flinn Scholars for 2018!
Congrats Laura!
