President's Letter
What a blessed year we've had in 2019! Early Education is the hot topic of a lot of political discussions, which is an exciting thing to have happen. I can't stress enough of how important the educators are to the young children that are taken care of in our environments. Being President of WFCCA, I am invited into a lot of conversations and I am truly honored to support and advocate for the Family Providers of Wisconsin. Thank you for entrusting me this past year, and I look forward to what 2020 has to offer!
Please take a moment to enjoy the blessings in your life, in your career, and in your families. As we are surrounded by our loved ones that are here, and remember those that are not, Christmas is a season to savor the joy. Try not to get too busy or too stressed, to enjoy the joyful moments that happen. Even if it's small like being able to take a restful nap, or watch a Hallmark movie...take some time for yourself. Eat a cookie or two with no regrets, get a massage, Live Life!
I wish you all the best for the upcoming year. Whatever you chose for your goals and dreams for this next year, I hope that you will be able to achieve them. If WFCCA can help in any way to support them, please reach out.

California - New Laws Supporting FCC
Federal Lawmakers and Funding for Child Care Subsidy
Members of Congress are returning home next week and it is an important opportunity to emphasize how CCDBG and Head Start funding impacts children, families, and providers as well as the increases we all want to see in a final FY 2020 appropriations bill. NWLC, CAP, Zero to Three, CLASP, Child Care Aware, First Five Years Fund, and other partners have created a revised toolkit for advocates to use in October, which is available here:

The Family Child Care group in Wisconsin is doing amazing things! Nature Explore Program has had many sites certify since WFCCA offered workshops at your conference in May! Nature Explore Program says to WFCCA "Thank you so much for helping them attain this wonderful goal of creating nature-rich spaces at their programs."
The Nature Explore program, a division of nonprofit Dimensions Educational Research Foundation, provides researched-based outdoor learning opportunities for children, developing outdoor classrooms where children spend their day. There are now over 490 certified classrooms across the nation.

Hello Everyone,
Sending out a brief update regarding the bills currently circulating the Assembly and Senate. DPI recently became aware of these bills and their circulation. The department is in the process of analyzing the bills. The department was not aware of hearings on these bills until yesterday (October 1, 2019).
DPI will be testifying at the hearing for informational purposes only.
- DPI supports funding for full day 4K and recognizes the importance of community approaches for 4K.
- DPI does not support proposed changes for eligibility age for 4K.

The Terri Lynne Lokoff Child Care Foundation gives 50 Family Child Care Teachers an award, This award acknowledges the critical role of child care teachers in providing quality early care and education. Last year they awarded 3 teachers from Wisconsin.
