Neil R. Crosby Achievement in Excellence
Last Year's Recipient Bill Hammett Presents 2018 Award to Jean Strouf
Award

What a huge honor to receive the 2018 Neil Crosby Award; and a very humbling Thank You for your respect and recognition. Had I known ahead, I would have said more than just Happiness comes from giving more than you receive, without expectation of return. Look at Joel Marcus; and Bill Gates has certainly found this to be true. There is nothing more rewarding than to help make the World a better place.

President's Message

Thank you to everyone who made time to attend the 30th
annual sales expo!  We had just under 400 attendees and some great speakers.

Come and join us at our 3rd Annual Corn Hole Tournament .  As you hopefully know, the Corn-Hole event helps to fund our philanthropic efforts as well as PAC.  If you don't know anything about PAC, let us know and we will send Terri Yurek out to speak with you.

Broker Rant

Hello, SDAHU readers. The 4th quarter for group health insurance is mostly behind us, Medicare is still open until March 31 for millions of CA residents, and the individual open enrollment ended January 31, other than technical and policy issues that need resolving over the next 6 months or so.

That is a topic unto itself, and only touched on here.
Personally, I have not felt this emotionally drained in any other year of my career; Stick a fork in me drained. This is partly volume, and partly system issues, and partly heartless enrollment.

Legislative Update

Hello SDAHU,
In late February a handful of SDAHU board members are heading to Washington DC for the annual NAHU Capitol Conference. We will be meeting with our five San Diego congressional offices to communicate the NAHU agenda including individual market stabilization, removing commissions from MLR, Medicare improvements, and the role of the agent. In addition, we will be attending breakout sessions, training workshops and listening to a number of excellent speakers. I will provide a report in a future newsletter.

Membership Update

Great news - SDAHU Membership is on the upswing!  We had a great turnout at the SDAHU Sales Expo in January and secured 13 new members.  This brings our total membership to 250.  Our 13 new members brought the largest increase in membership of any chapter in our Region.  Congrats SDAHU!

PAC Update

Happy New Year to everyone, and especially those I didn't get a chance to connect with at expo. It is going to be a busy year on the political side of health care as we carefully watch the awakening of the single payer bill SB562 and the introduction of multiple bills under the Trump administration.

SALES EXPO
The silent auction and raffle were a tremendous success raising over $4,000 for our philanthropic partners. There was tremendous interest for the items offered and the attendees were very generous with their bids. Thank you for everyone who participated.
