Veterinary Students: Learn About Changes to Our Rehabilitation and Acupuncture Certification Programs and Our New Discount.
We know that veterinary students that graduate with certifications in veterinary rehabilitation and/or acupuncture have more to offer a potential employer. But finances and school schedules can make this additional training very challenging. With this in mind, CRI has made adjustments to our rehabilitation and acupuncture certification programs just for veterinary students.
Certification in Canine Rehabilitation (CCRT): Students can start their training by taking
Introduction to Canine Rehabilitation any time after their first year. They can then take the second module,
Clinical Skills, any time after their second year. After their third year, they can take the last module,
Clinical Applications, followed by a 40-hour
internship. Certification will be awarded when the students obtain their veterinary licenses.
Certification in Veterinary Medical Acupuncture (CVAT): Students can start their training by taking
Introduction to Veterinary Medical Acupuncture any time after their first year. They can then take the second module,
Veterinary Medical Acupuncture for Sports Medicine/Rehabilitation Patients any time after their second year, and the last module,
Canine and Feline Medical Acupuncture, any time after their third year. Certification will be awarded when the students obtain their veterinary licenses.
We encourage veterinary students to take advantage of the 20% discount off the tuition we are currently offering. We are also in discussions with our sponsor companies to develop tuition assistance programs.
For complete details, please see our
Veterinary Student Certification page or contact us at
[email protected].

We're Returning to Australia in July 2020!

Introduction to Canine Rehabilitation module to Brisbane on 25-29 July 2020. Small class size, loads of demo dogs, and a friendly, talented faculty assure that you will leave this course confirmed in the skills that you need.

Our November Breezie Demo Dog Award Winner is Maui,
the little sister of our late lead demo dog Breezie and the newest family member of Dr. Donna Schwartz. Dr. Schwartz is a primary care veterinarian at Coral Springs Animal Hospital.
Even though Maui has only been a demo dog for several months, she is already living up to her big sister's standards and helping CRI students to hone their palpation and therapeutic handling skills. Breezie would be so proud!
In recognition of this honor, Maui will receive a gift bag from
Jiminy's valued at $50. Congratulations, Maui!

The Breezie Demo Dog of the Month Award is given in memory of Breezie, who was the lead demo dog for our Coral Springs courses for more than 9 years and helped to educate more than 800 veterinary and physical therapy professionals. She was such a great demo dog that our faculty would beg to have her in their small group sessions. Breezie's favorite holiday was Halloween when she was always the best dressed dog in Coral Springs! |

The beloved Team Biener demo dogs (from left) Max, Lola, Leo, and Charlie.
|
Our Condolences to Team Biener and the Biener Family.
Everyone at CRI was saddened to learn that our precious demo dog Charlie Biener has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Charlie was always a joyful addition to our courses, and she helped many veterinary and physical therapy professionals add to their rehabilitation skills. In her memory, CRI has made a donation to the Tayla Fund, a non-profit fund established at Coral Springs Animal Hospital to help families in need to receive rehabilitation services for their pets. Team Biener was recognized in November 2018 as the second recipient of the Breezie Demo Dog of the Month Award.

OrthoPets Case Study: Nugget
We've asked our colleagues at OrthoPets to share case studies with us as a way of providing more education about orthotics and prosthetics.
Nugget is a 2-year-old Chilean Flamingo born with a congenital deformity of her left limb. The deformity resulted in a partial amputation performed at Santa Barbara Zoo in California, where she resides. Before persuing a prosthetic through OrthoPets, Nugget was getting used to wearing a makeshift cover to help protect her residuum, but it was time to find a better long-term solution.
Santa Barbara Zoo contacted OrthoPets to see if we could help. The dedicated staff wanted to give Nugget the best chance at a normal life and had seen that OrthoPets has helped many animals achieve this. Having helped more than 30 different species with a variety of different pathologies, OrthoPets was up for the challenge. The team created a successful solution with creative materials to give Nugget the most normal representation of the limb she was missing.
Nugget is adjusting to her new prosthetic very well, and everyone is very pleased with the results of the device and how Nugget has taken to it so far. She now can spend her days with the rest of her flamingo friends living a normal life with her new limb. It is even pink to match her feathers. We look forward to watching her progress at the Santa Barbara Zoo!
