God's Work. Our Hands.
In September, many of our Pacifica Synod congregations participated in the ELCA's "God's Work. Our Hands. Sunday". A few shared their photos with us and although it's taken a few months for us to share them with you, our appreciation for the hard work and ministry that took place has not diminished. YOU are God's hands in the world.
Thanks to ALL who participated in the 2019 ELCA Day of Service!

The congregation of St. John's, Palm Desert spent "God's Work, Our Hands" Sunday assembling "blessing bags" for the homeless that will be distributed to local cooling centers through the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission.

St. Andrew's, San Diego had a weekend of service projects, including an overnight at a Children's Home in Mexico. We also helped sort and tag clothing at The Closet at Calvary Lutheran, made quilts for Lutheran World Relief, and made note cards and assembled hygiene kits for the guests at the Interfaith Shelter. A hardy group spread a mountain of new bark on our preschool playground. We also had a group go to a local nursing home / rehab hospital for singing (not pictured.)

Seventeen folks from Christ, Orange came together and filled 125 Blessing Bags to distribute to those in need. Filled with Christian love, good wishes, sundry items such as soap, tooth paste, tooth brush, God's blessing, and shampoo, the bags, we pray, will lend hope to those receiving them. The items filling the bags came as a blessing from The Orange County Rescue Mission. Those filling the bags then carry them in their cars to pass out as opportunities present themselves, those distributing them sharing God's love and blessing and an invitation from Christ Lutheran to know more about us.

At Bethlehem, Los Alamitos children weaved a blanket to donate and the church purchased fabric and thread and then assembled the materials for Lutheran World Relief's fabric kits program.
