The Accounting Department
From the outside looking in, the Accounting Department is all about numbers. Their main responsibilities include producing accurate and timely financial reports, managing accounts payable, bank and petty cash reconciliations, preparing and maintaining general ledgers, escrow balances, and providing continuous support to Chief Financial Officer, Cherie James, and Controller, Marnie Bentley. However, their responsibilities do not end there. According to Accounting Manager, Kathy Johnson, it's all about interaction. "
We work with site staff, regionals, operations, software support, human resources, and even marketing on a regular basis."
When asked about their favorite part of working in this department, their altruistic spirit for camaraderie in the work place was evident as each person expressed their grattitude for their team members.
"Our accountants aren't the monotone pencil pushers depicted in movies and sitcoms," says Property Accountant, Blake Huffman, "This group is by far the most vibrant and ambitious team that I've ever had the pleasure of working with."
Everything we do comes back around to our Accounting Department - they are the heart of our company.

NOVA Team Outing
Once every quarter, Regional Manager, Matt McBroom, rewards his site teams in Northern Virginia with an afternoon away from the office. Because of their outstanding delinquency and financials in the first quarter, McBroom recognized the due diligence of his team members and treated them to an afternoon at a Nationals Baseball game. "Having the team together is a great morale booster and promotes a positive balance at work. They know the meaning of working hard." says McBroom.

Brian Lord
: Maintenance Supervisor at Magnolia at Whitlock
Heading into summer and the notorious busy season for maintenance, Brian has maintained an extremely upbeat dedicated attitude. While Magnolia has continued to be a busy work load, Brian has managed to complete his work in enough time to help other properties in the area (even on his days off). His manager, Vickey Glover, nominated Brian for his great attitude, his wealth of knowledge in the business, and for always going above and beyond her expectations.
Saundra Beltz
: Community Manager at Springhouse
Saundra was nominated by Joanna Bradford, the Leasing S
pecialist at Springhouse Apartment Homes, for her great leadership and hard work. Joanna explained, "We are in the middle of renovations at our community and just celebrated our grand re-opening. As you can imagine, things have been hectic. Even with everything going on, Saundra is always in the middle of things helping to set organized and efficient plans into motion and put others at ease. She was painting the curbs to help our maintenance team and several residents personally thanked her for taking the time to make the property beautiful. She is never too busy to lend us a hand or teach us something new. Her job is strenuous and challenging, but she continuously lifts us up and offers her guiance. I cannot imagine how we would operate without her leading us, and she deserves recognition for all that she does."
Stephen Lewis
: Maintenance Supervisor at Carolina Spring
Stephen was nominated by his manager, LaToya Jones, for his dedication and ability to exemplify TFJG core values every day. LaToya stated, "Stephen is a man of many talents; as a loving husband, father of 7 and grandpa to three. He exemplified the essence of all of the core values daily and always goes above and beyond for each one of the residents at Carolina Spring. However, I recently witnessed the most selfless thing ever! On May 16, there was a resident whose garbage disposal sprung a leak around 7:30 pm. I was working late when the lady came by to say that she needed to contact the on-call maintenance guy because the garbage disposal was leaking into her cabinet. I had to contact Stephen - who was not on call, but is the most experienced for this issue - he was at a Cub Scout meeting with his youngest son. Stephen gave me the instructions to contain the leak until he could get to the property. I went to the resident's home and told her that Stephen would be there shortly and he always honors his word. I did a follow up call with Stephen to make sure the issue was resolved. He said that he'd already been out to the property and corrected the issue. He is not only a great guy to work with, but he also works with speed and accuracy. Stephen Lewis has worked on this property for seven years, he is a kind soul and he would be a hard person to replace as it would take three people to do the work he does in one day."
Jorden Washington, Leasing Specialist at Park on Clairmont
Jorden was nominated by Audubon Briarcliff's community manager, Kimberly Dumas. "Audubon is currently having a very busy start to the summer and also down one team member in the leasing office. Jorden has offered to go out of his way to assist Audubon with leasing and has taken the task very well. He is committed to not only doing well for Park on Clairmont, but also to help lease up Audubon while they are short staffed. This is how our team works together here in Georgia with a big thanks to Jorden."

AIM 2017 Snapchat Video Awards

South Hampton Roads United Way
United Way unites people and organizations to solve big problems together. They combine thousands of gifts, big and small, to make good things happen across all of our own communities.
The Franklin Johnston Groups United Way Campaign
kicked off on May 15th in South Hampton Roads, Virginia Peninsula, National Capital Area and the Rappahannock Region and will be ending on June 9th. In attempts to raise more money for United Way, the corporate office has held a Guac-Off, a Bake-Off and will be holding one last Dip-Off competition this Thursday. The campaign has raised $8,415.50 so far. Our goal is to make it to $10,000 by June 9th! To find out how your team can get involved, contact HR Generalist, Courtney Strait.
