CUNA's Jim Nussle Heads South to Meet with Louisiana Credit Union Leaders
Credit union leaders from across the state gathered Monday in Metairie, Louisiana, where they participated in a roundtable discussion with CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle, discussing key topics facing the credit union industry, shared ideas, and heard the latest on CUNA's priorities.

Nussle recognized Louisiana for their strong commitment to advocacy efforts, particularly with CULAC, which has led to significant wins as well as specific relationships that have proved crucial to the industry's success. He stressed that cooperation among credit unions is critical in a number of areas, whether it be fighting a tax battle or collectively telling the story of the Credit Union Difference to consumers through the Open Your Eyes to a Credit Union initiative.

A special thank you to those who were able to attend and provide valuable feedback so that both the state and national associations can better serve our membership. Your input is essential to our collaborative success.

Dreams Really Do Come True at Southwest Louisiana Credit Union
Southwest Louisiana Credit Union opened the doors of their new state of the art corporate office for a "soft opening" on Monday, January 6th, 2020.

The new facility replaces the downtown branch location at 519 Kirby St which officially processed its last transactions and closed out operations at noon on December 31st.

The new corporate office and branch is located at 2255 E. McNeese St. in Lake Charles, LA. This state-of-the-art facility was designed by Level 5, a design-build firm for financial instructions. The new branch will feature PODs that will continue to allow staff to interact with members on a more personal level. The tech bar will allow members to access internet and utilize many common functions associated with our online platforms and mobile services.

One of the components of this new facility that we are extremely excited about is the community room. The community room is designed just for that...The Community. In addition to it being a training lab and meeting space for our staff and board members; this room will allow us to provide educational financial empowerment workshops to our membership and our communities. It's long been a dream of SWLACU to offer more educational outreach in accordance with our vision of eliminating poverty in our communities and our mission of financial empowerment for all. We are eagerly looking forward to serving our community in this new way.

CEO, Chad Miller said, " the vision for 2020 is larger than ever. We've opened a new, really cool and fun branch on McNeese Street that's going to enhance the member experience." Miller added, "In February, we will roll out a new/efficient core that's going to allow all our employees to do their jobs quicker, more efficient, and open up time to impact the members lives on a deeper level. We're upgrading online banking, bill pay, and many other products. We're expanding financial services further and deeper into our community through some really amazing partnerships." The official grand opening of the McNeese location is scheduled for early Spring.
Ouachita Valley FCU Participated in "Stuff A Bus" Toy Drive
This Christmas, Ouachita Valley FCU and local radio affiliate, The Radio People, partnered with The Center for Children and Families to help make the holiday season brighter for children in our community!

"Stuff A Bus" is an annual community gift drive that helps provide toys and gifts for local children who are currently going through difficult life circumstances. Many of these children are growing up in some of the most impoverished areas in our region. Others have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect.

During Stuff a Bus, sponsors went live on location, encouraging listeners to "stuff" the bus full of new, unwrapped toys to be donated to the Christmas Project.

By providing just one toy or gift, this helps ensure that Christmas wishes can come true for everyone! We believe that each donation is so much more than a toy, it represents hope to the children who needed it most this holiday season.
