Ladies began arriving over an hour before the doors opened for us to set up! They were so excited! The widow's beautiful long stem roses provided by Scott and Christine Logan in memory of Christine's mother added to the excitement in the air!

Three Hundred and twenty-six attendees came to celebrate God's love for the widows at our 8th annual "He's My Valentine" party Saturday! This included our handsome ushers, a few sponsors and 300 widows (by death of spouse, divorce and circumstance)! God was raising up His army for this region and beyond! Ladies from several states came including Alabama and Oregon! I was certainly feeling like Gideon...Maybe Gideon-ette?

Rothchild's Catering and Conference Center once again did a wonderful job in setting up and making the ballroom beautiful!! "His Banner Over Me is Love" was our theme as Darlene Bolding taught the group the hand motions to the song by the same name which made even more tangible God's love for us! Starlie Chavez was our Master of Ceremonies or should I say "Comic Relief", complete with humor, songs, and impressions along with wigs and props! Our Wonder Widow mascot, Anne Mintz, brought the invocation with her humorous side note to the Lord about getting old! She received a standing ovation which brought tears to her eyes! (I can remember the day when Anne did not want to get up in front of people, that is, before she was empowered!)

Frank Galbraith sang some of Elvis' love songs along with a few oldies that made us laugh! His voice was wonderful as well as his humor. "I am my own Grandpa" was my highlight in his plethora of fun songs! We certainly want him back!

After our amazing lunch was served, Starlie and Annie Sellers brought more entertainment for those who experience "Speed Bumps" in their lives, with the song,"I will Survive". Starlie shared her testimony and called divorce and other 'mistakes', the speed bumps that cause us to slow down and focus on the one who won't hurt us...the Best Husband of all!

After I acted out the life of the widow, "Ruth" and some of the things she experienced, we all made fresh commitment to trust God and move into our individual assignments that God has for us! I could see a shift in their thinking, as I do in every event when the truth from the Word of God goes out about the widow! Lives are changed! After the many many door prizes were given out by Debra Moore of Widows and Children International and Robbin Rolland of Compassion Ministries, ladies came up to me. One said that her husband just passed away last April. She said, "The words you said gave me life! Now I can go on!" Ladies came for prayer from our prayer team and many want to connect with others learning how to be mighty in His army!

So "Thank You, Thank you" for your prayers, for giving to make this possible and for donating door-prizes! Thank you, "mighty ones" that volunteered your time, talent and energy because you believe in changing lives also! You have made a difference, as God is raising up an army of widows!!
