Achieving Vision 2020

Back in 2005, I participated in a planning group with the Apex Park and Recreation District (formerly known as North Jeffco). The Vision 2020 committee was tasked with coming up with a comprehensive plan to guide the district for the next 15 years. At the time, the year 2020 seemed very far away. But here we are, days away from that auspicious date.

2020 Joint Budget Committee

The benefit of having a plan to guide your decisions is that you are able to look back at the plan and determine whether you achieved the outcomes you wanted. It's much more difficult looking back on the last 10 years and deciding whether you achieved your goals. Nevertheless, this is the perfect time to reflect on the past and to commit to new goals.

The second session of the 72nd General Assembly begins on January 8. My goal for the coming session is to continue working in a cooperative and bipartisan manner with my legislative colleagues. I also hope to tackle school funding in an impactful way, and continue working on creative solutions to address our transportation needs. And lastly, it's my goal to earn your support once more to return to the State Senate for another term.

I'm grateful for the extra motivation that this kind of milestone in the calendar presents to us, and I consider it a magnified sort of New Year's Resolution. Happy New Year.
Birthday party fundraiser

It's never been easy having a birthday in between Christmas and New Year's, but the best way to overcome that unfortunate timing is to get together and have some fun!  Please join me for a birthday party fundraiser on Monday, December 30 from 6 pm - 8 pm at the Kokopelli Beer Company, 8931 N Harlan St, Westminster, CO 80031. We will have beer, pizza, and opportunities to contribute to my campaign for re-election.  RSVP on Facebook HERE. Hope to see you there!
