Sending a message in a bottle may seem to some, a romantic act as we often witness in the movies. To others, sending a bottled message expresses hope. For our children at Saint Theresa Catholic School it symbolizes gratitude and love.

Lindsay Klinck, one of the co-chairs of the 2019 Fall Auction “Seas the Day”, organized an activity with our students where the children wrote messages and drew pictures. They wrote and drew what they loved about Saint Theresa Catholic School. Those messages were placed in corked, mini bottles, waiting to be opened by the guests, following their dinner.

Magic!... We were hard at work celebrating a fabulous party....as Catholics, we are really good at celebrating. Let me remind you that it is a prophetic part of our faith. The tiny, little bottles took us right to the heart of what we were there to celebrate and why it is so important! I, myself felt hope as I read the message in my bottle. Hope....I saw hope in action all last week through all who worked so hard for a successful auction. Through all who attended the auction with grateful hearts, I saw hope as they eagerly participated and appreciated the works of our PTO. Hope for a school that continues to build a legacy rooted in community, generosity and faith.

When we answer the call to celebrate hope and affirmation in our daily lives, we find it in the little unseen things that are felt by the heart. These little unseen things are, in fact, the essence of our faith, and the essence of St. Theresa Catholic School. When we come together for these epic STCS celebrations, we are celebrating the greater purpose at hand... transforming children into followers of the Lord and vessels of light, hope and gratitude. Maybe that's why our celebrations comes so easy...because transforming children and communities for the better is a great thing to celebrate!

So back to the the auction, not only was it an unbelievable success, but we were called to remember our purpose and to celebrate it with enthusiasm! The messages in the bottle were packed with the biggest punch of all, reminding us that the little people, the little vignettes and the little inspirations are at the core of the greatness that binds us...Faith, hope, gratitude, and an overflowing of love!
Let the celebration continue!! Thank you again to Lindsay Klinck and Cary Buddensick and all of the volunteers who were part of "Seas the Day!"
