Dear Members,
You are invited to our winter meeting on January 30 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Fox Valley Technical College. There will not be a formal meeting, but we will host a class that could help you save someone's life. It is a Hands-Only CPR and Choking course that is recognized by the American Red Cross. You will not be certified, but you will be trained.
The choking part of the course goes over how to do the Heimlich Maneuver when a person is choking and his or her life is endangered by a windpipe obstruction. You will be taught how to avoid using excessive force in employing the Heimlich. The course includes using manikins for the CPR and Heimlich Maneuver training so that you will have confidence in your ability to perform the abdominal thrust and/or CPR procedure.
There is a fee of $5.00 for this class. It is preferred that you mail a check ahead of time to Kim Jordan, W9982 River Rd, New London, WI 54961, and payable to WEAC-FV Retired. We need to have a minimum of 12 participants since instructors will be traveling a distance to provide this course.
The meeting will take place in room A170 (ABC) at the main campus of Fox Valley Technical College, 1825 N. Bluemound, Appleton, WI 54912. It is just inside entrance 16. We usually secure the Bordini Center, but a rental opportunity came up for them (we do not pay for the use of the space), so we were moved. I've attached two maps. One shows you where to park near entrance 16 and the other shows you the room we are in.
