Catalyst Center Presents at AMCHP 2018

In a workshop at last week's Association of Maternal & Child Health Programs (AMCHP) conference titled "Addressing Health Care Inequities Among Children with Special Health Care Needs", we presented  the results of four focus groups that were conducted with parents of children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) who are from the Somali community in Boston, focusing on accessing health care for their CYSHCN. In the context of the focus group results, we also provided results of interviews conducted with representatives of state Offices of Minority Health. We presented information on innovative strategies states are using to mitigate inequities and discussed how these strategies could address the barriers the families identified. The session was recorded, and the video will be publicly available on the AMCHP conference archives in the coming month.

Fact Sheet: Learn How Medicaid and Title V Programs Are Advancing Pediatric Medical Homes

A fact sheet from the National Center for Medical Home Implementation (NCMHI) and the National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP) addresses challenges and opportunities on the provision of care for CYSHCN who are enrolled in Medicaid managed care (MMC). This information can be used among state Title V programs, Medicaid agencies, managed care plans, and practices to enhance care for CYSHCN and their families within their state.
State Medicaid Managed Care Program Design for Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs

National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP) provides national maps that highlight key characteristics of states' Medicaid Managed Care (MMC) program design for CYSHCN. The maps also illustrate states enrolling CYSHCN in MMC by delivery system model and states with specialized managed care plans for CYSHCN.
