Meditation Moment

From the Pastor ....

"And wonders of His love."

This line from the song "Joy to the World," speaks to my heart deeply this year. While many may be having a merry Christmas, others may feel blue.

I have a dear friend who owns at least 25 "festive Christmas sweaters." His childhood was not so happy. As an adult, circumstances have changed for him that he has more in his cup to share. Every day he posts a new sweater on Facebook. What he loves most about this is to bring brief smiles to those that are hurting.

We have a loving God that meets us where we are. Whether we are merry or blue, Jesus is our "Immanuel," God with us. In honor of my friend who loves festive gear, may this "Meowy Christmas sweater" bring you a smile as well.

Eternally,

Pastor Karna

Building (Mortgage) fund revenues now merged into General Fund revenues!

In an effort to simplify our chart of accounts and increase the flexibility for the board and finance teams to manage the OSLC finances, the board approved a merge of the mortgage account and revenues into the general fund. Accordingly, Intent of Giving cards you received in the mail had only one option for your commitment. We still have approximately $400,000 remaining on our mortgage and we hope that you would consider adding your previous commitments to the building fund to your general commitment plus meeting the growth challenge goal outlined here.

Please call the office (651-439-5704) or email finance@oslcstillwater.org; treasurer@oslcstillwater.org if you have questions or would like to update your 2020 commitment.

Help Us Catch Up and Meet Our Budget Goal!

As of Dec. 8th, 2019 we are at $485,842 total giving to the General Fund for 2019. This puts us at 82% of our end of year budget goal of $592,500. Although we are facing a significant budget shortfall, expenses have come in under expectations as well. Still,  as of December 1st, unrestricted revenues available to meet operational expenses are short $46,830. Reserves are currently meeting cash flow shortfalls. We ask for your prayerful consideration in helping where you can to meet our budget goal.

You can easily and securely donate online by clicking here. This will take you to our online donation portal where you can log in with your email and manage your giving. Contact the church office or 651.439.5704 if you would like help. Thank you for helping us meet our goal!

Care of Creation Tip
In gratitude, caring for God's Air, Water, and Land

Last-Minute No-Waste Christmas Gifts
Manufacturing new products almost always has unseen contributions to pollution of air, water, and land and to climate change. However, there is one category of gifts that avoids almost all environmental costs. These are gifts of time and fellowship spent with friends and family. A simple certificate redeemable for an afternoon visit, a shared lunch, a day learning to make a family recipe, a visit to a state park, working together to building a birdhouse, or an afternoon of snow fort building can be a present that gladdens the heart and creates a happy memory . . . without residual environmental effects.

A lot of "just one persons" working together can accomplish mighty things. ~ A message from your OSLC Care of Creation team.

Come join us for an evening of devotion and insight as we practice the fastest growing form of yoga for everyone - chair yoga. Cindy Senarighi of White Bear Lake is an ordained ELCA pastor and founder of Yogadevotion, a company with a mission to "share God's presence and love through the practice of yoga." She will share how yoga, when properly understood, goes beyond the physical to engage all we are: body, mind and spirit. Yoga is about the breath. And, when we connect the breath with the body in our devotional time, it becomes a God breathed experience of God's Promised Presence. We will conclude our evening with time to share in fellowship with one another. RSVP to the church office or 651-439-5704.
