CityMatCH Best Babies Zone Project
|
CityMatCH's Best Babies Zone initiative fosters community-driven interventions to tackle root causes of high infant mortality in selected urban neighborhoods. CityMatCH links together Public Health departments with community partners and advocates to create solutions customized for their zone - and share their learnings with similar zones.

Appointment Announcement:
Coulter Named Director of PCRG
|
Don Coulter, M.D., has been named the first director of the Pediatric Cancer Research Group (PCRG) at UNMC. Dr. Coulter will be responsible for enhancing the UNMC and Children's environments for research and academic achievement for faculty, students and residents in pediatric cancer research.

CHRI Investigator Study:
FUEL Pediatric Drug Trial
|
CHRI investigators and personnel participated in a NIH-funded pediatric drug trial of udenafil, with the aim to increase blood flow and exercise capacity in adolescents who had undergone the Fontan operation as infants.

Gurudutt 'Guru' Pendyala, M.D.
|
Gurudutt Pendyala, M.D., from the Department of Anesthesiology, will receive the 2020 Joseph P. and Harriet K. Gilmore Distinguished New Investigator Award from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Medicine on
Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020 at 2:30 p.m.

New Program:
Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology Program
|
The recently established Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology Program - a collaboration between the UNMC Colleges of Pharmacy and Medicine, Children's Hospital & Medical Center and CHRI - aims to work in partnership to study and optimize medication therapy in pediatric patients.

Pediatric Research Office Update:
Required PRO Intake Form
|
In order to best assess the level of support needed for a study, including the personnel and financial needs, the Pediatric Research Office (PRO) requires that all investigators complete and submit a PRO Intake Form for review. With the submission of an intake form,
a study protocol and proposed budget must be included. If there is not currently funding available for the proposed study, a plan for obtaining funding or a justification for supporting an unfunded project should be provided. For any new research services support, please complete the online REDCap intake and provide the requested information.

2020 Research Education Series

February Sessions Announced
The Pediatric Research Office (PRO) will present on various research education topics beginning in February. One topic will be presented each month, with two presentations scheduled per month.
The first topic is on Budgets & Contracts and will be presented by Ashley Servais, PRO research manager. The presentation is geared toward anyone interested in research and learning more about how to create their study budget and how the contract process works.
