6:30PM White Street Pier
Dee Dee Green from the City of Key West Sends New Year's Greetings & Tell us about The "Full Snow Moon" Bike Ride
It's time to howl at the moon again with Southernmost Slow Ride! February Full Moon is known as the Snow Moon so let's dress in our Snowy best! We are meeting at the end of White Street Pier, by the Compass, at 6:30pm. The sun sets at 6:18pm if you want to arrive early. Come catch the sunset and howl at the moon with us or at least have fun riding and socializing. All ages and abilities are welcome! Meet us out at White Street Pier and we normally meet at the end of the pier. We start gathering at at 6:00pm and ride out at 6:30pm Routes are TBA.
Please bring, install, and use as many lights on your bike as possible. Regular bike lights, decorative bike lights, wheel lights, glow sticks, novelty light-up glasses and hats and ties and boas, and anything lights up or glows and is safe to ride with! If you have any bike-mounted music, you can bring that too. We will have tunes playing from a couple of our bikes.
Don't have that stuff? You can still come and ride. NOTE: Ride at your own risk. No road closures, no escorts, only informal marshaling-a mellow ride with friends you know and some you haven't met yet. We will "take the lane" and own the road at times, but we will also get in single file or pull over to allow backed-up cars to pass, so please follow the marshals and the general vibe of the group.

Keeping things cool at the Custom House- an award-winning museum and one of Key West's most prominent national landmarks-with ongoing repairs and restoration efforts is the focus of Key West Art & Historical Society's annual Back in Time fundraiser, set for Thursday, February 6 from 6:00pm-10:00pm at the historic San Carlos Institute. Key West Art & Historical Society announces new board president and vice president
The Key West Art & Historical Society, one of the region's oldest cultural organizations that
educates the local community and visiting public by preserving, interpreting and exhibiting the art, architecture and history of the Florida Keys
through exhibitions and educational offerings at four stewarded museums, announces the appointment of Enid Torregrosa-Silva and Todd Feit as new board president and vice president, respectively.
Torregrosa-Silva fills the vacated seat of Shirrel Rhoades, whose term has concluded. Her experience as a historic preservation planner aligns well with the Society's position as stewards to the Custom House, Key West Lighthouse & Keeper's Quarters, and Fort East Martello. The former State Historic Preservation Officer for Puerto Rico's Governor's Cabinet has been the city of Key West's Historic Preservation Planner for the last decade, and has more than 27 years of experience in both government and private sectors in all aspects of historic preservation, including public policy development, federal, state, and local regulation compliance for historic building construction, and historic districts management. Additionally, she has overseen and managed complex restoration projects for significant buildings listed in the National Register of Historic Places as well as World Heritage sites recognized by UNESCO.
"As the new president, I want to contribute to inspiring younger generations to join us in keeping alive the connection to our past," she says. "I see our institution, driven with an active board of directors and a dynamic, committed staff, as a fusion of multi-generational citizens that value the social responsibility we have in our hands of protecting and perpetuating the Florida Keys' remarkable history."
"Island Love Story" business owner & social media marketer Todd Feit has been an active Society board member since 2014 and has helped brand the organization via his photography and social media savvy as the Society has grown in its reach and programming.
"The Society's mission is
to preserve the rich history that is woven throughout the island," he says. "Its importance is priceless. In 2020 we will have some exciting announcements to make that will further explain our unique history to all who visit this great island we are so fortunate to live on."
Those interested in supporting the Society's year-round exhibitions and educational programming through volunteering or membership should contact Kim Livingston, Membership Director, at
305-295-6616 ext 106. Your museums. Your community. It takes an island.

February 7, 2020 Alaen Ledesma Fernandez Opens "Corpus" in Islamorada at the Roberto Russell Gallery at Ocean Southeby's International Realty 81888 OverSeas Hwy.
The Florida Keys Council of the Arts, in conjunction with Ocean Sotheby's International Realty in Islamorada and Latin American Art Magazine is proud to announce the upcoming show: "Corpus"; collective exhibition brings together the work of five Cuban painters who focus their visual discourse on the human body. From different expressions, the body is the protagonist of his works, and with this the inquiry about his particular rituals of representation and understanding of beauty.
Using figuration as an artistic expression and evoking a universe of individual symbols, they bring the viewer closer to their particular stories while proposing routes of inquiry about the human condition, the balance between pain and hope and the complexity of life experience.
The works of Capdevilla, Nodarse, Guzmán and the binomial Sandra and Enmanuel reveal five different ways of transcending the limits between the corporal and the spiritual, of externalizing the harmony between the internal sphere and the universal space, while seducing contemplation and They encourage reflection.
Curated by Alaen Ledesma Fernandez and Supported by The Florida Keys Council of the Arts , Ocean Sotherby's International Realty , Studio Fine Cuban Art to Collect and Latin American art magazine.

NOW DENNIS BEAVER CURATOR OF THE TENNESSEE WILLIAMS MUSEUM Starting Curator Tours in January + TW Writing Contests & Submissions.
Tennessee Williams Museum to offer monthly first Sunday curator tours; free entry for locals
The Tennessee Williams Museum, located at 513 Truman Avenue, will offer a series of tours led by Museum Curator Dennis Beaver starting Sunday, January 5 from 2:00pm - 3:00pm. The January tour will focus on the premiere of "The Rose Tattoo," William's classic film based on his Tony Award-winning Broadway play of the same name and which debuted at the San Carlos Institute on January 19, 1956.
"Williams wrote both the play and the screenplay and oversaw the making of the film in Key West while living at his home on Duncan Street in the early 1950s," says Beaver. "He said he could write anywhere but he could write best in Key West."
The award-winning museum is already a destination for Tennessee Williams enthusiasts and scholars, with
a
n impressive collection of Williams' memorabilia and literary artifacts that help keep alive the importance of his legacy and the impact of the literary icon who
made Key West his home from 1949 until his death in 1983.
Displays include artist Jane Rohrschneider-Carper's model of the playwright's Duncan Street home, first edition plays and books, images from the late local photographer Don Pinder, and a new collection of photographs featuring Williams and celebrities of his era, many of whom were featured in his film and theater productions.
"We especially hope to raise awareness in our local community of the many contributions made by this literary giant to the city of Key West and Monroe County," says Beaver. "His choice of having a home in our city on Duncan Street for thirty-four years helped to make Key West the cultural and literary destination it is today."
Key West Art & Historical Society honors locals the first Sunday of every month with free admission to the museum and three other properties under its stewardship-the Custom House Museum, Key West Lighthouse & Keeper's Quarters, and Fort East Martello Museum. A merger with the Society in 2017 supports the exhibit and a continuing full roster of writing and painting contests, film forums, and the annual Tennessee Williams Birthday Celebration every March.
Subsequent Tennessee Williams Museum curator tours will be Sunday, February 2 and Sunday, March 1, both from 2:00pm - 3:00pm
.
The Tennessee Williams Museum on 513 Truman Avenue is open daily for self-guided tours 9:30am-4:30pm daily. Formore information, contact Key West Art & Historical Society at 305-295-6616 or visit

All poems and stories must reference "The Women of Tennessee Williams," which can be loosely interpreted. Cost is $20 per submission and is limited to one poem and/or one short story per person. The first-place winner will be awarded $200 and the second-place winner $100 for each contest. Submissions will be accepted through March 8, 2020. Mayor Teri Johnston and the Key West City Commission have proclaimed January 20th as Martin Luther King, Jr. Day In 2020, "this nation, struggling with war, disparate treatment of its people and unequal representation, challenges our elected leaders on all levels to bring forward the realization of Dr. King's dream unveiled fifty six years ago," reads the proclamation, "to demand that they will work to put the needs of the people first and acknowledge that Black lives matter as much as all lives."
The City of Key West invites the community to join in celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, January 20. th from noon until 4 p.m. at Nelson English Park at 300 Catherine Street. Sandford Birdsey retrospective exhibit to be presented by Key West Art & Historical Society at Custom House Museum
Key West Art & Historical Society invites the community to a special reception on Friday, February 21, 2020 from 6:00pm -7:30pm to celebrate the opening of Sandford Birdsey's retrospective exhibit in the Bryan Gallery at the Custom House Museum, 281 Front Street. The exhibit showcases many watercolors, oils, acrylics, and textiles created during the course of her career.
A Key West resident from 1980 until her death in 2010, much of Birdsey's art depicts the essence of Key West: b
oats, water, tropical foliage, Victorian gingerbread, street people, pets, and free roaming chickens
with lively color, bold strokes, and unique humor
. The accomplished artist, silk screener, and mosaic and mural designer exhibited widely and was also a well-regarded teacher who impacted many of today's successful island artists.
"Sandford Birdsey: A Retrospective" runs until April 11, 2020. For more information call Cori Convertito, Ph.D., at 305-295-6616 x112, email her at cconvertitofarrar@kwahs.org, or visit

BAHAMA VILLAGE MUSIC PROGRAM OF KEY WEST
Fifth Annual Crooks Second Line Set to Party and March Down Duval Street
On Sunday, January 26
Bahama Village Music Program presents the fifth annual Crooks Second Line party and procession, set to celebrate the lives of musicians, community leaders, and friends loved and lost with a three-tiered event that begins with a Hog's Breath Saloon parking lot party at noon, a parade down Duval led by Grand Marshal Bill Blue at 2:00pm, and a Jazz Jam tribute at The Green Parrot from 3:00pm to 6:00pm.
The Hog's Breath Saloon party at noon will be emceed by Bahama Village Music Program Board President Larry Baeder, featuring music, a Bloody Mary bar sponsored by Bombora Vodka and Hog's Breath, a raffle, and parade paraphernalia merchandise for sale. Photo placards for donor participants will be available for pick up and a group photo is set for 1:15pm.
Grand Marshall Bill Blue, Funeral Band leader Skipper Krippitz, and some of the island's best musicians will rally the Second Line for a 2:00pm parade down Duval Street, arriving at the Green Parrot at approximately 3:00pm. Musician TK will read the names of this year's honorees during a performance by the Bahama Village Music Program Joyful Voices Choir. This moving tribute is not to be missed, and the Jazz Jam led by the incomparable Bill Blue follows until 6pm.
Processional participants can have an 18"x24" photo placard of a loved one made up to carry in the parade and a photo and a bio posted to the Crooks Second Line website (
CrooksSecondLineKW.com) for a $100 donation to Bahama Village Music Program, the community's free music education program now celebrating its twentieth year.
Past participants are welcome to bring their placards of loved ones and join in the parade.
Marching in the parade is free and open to all.
The original procession and party honored
world-class drummer Richard Crooks, who was sent off in style with a traditional New Orleans second line procession attended by hundreds of family, friends, and fans. The parade and fundraiser is Richard Crooks' legacy to the Key West community; placard proceeds support the
Richard Crooks' scholarship fund, the Wayne Hammond scholarship fund, and the Nancy R. Robinson scholarship fund, which send two Bahama Village Music Program students to the prestigious Berklee College of Music's 5-week Summer Performance program.

Gracy sends regards and tells us : This website was created to make easier to event goers to find times and dates. Companies can save time and always have updated/available events available to them and their customers. They don't have to search every local news paper to find what they need. They have ready and combined information on one calendar. It's also online and therefore very convenient. Most people are digital nowadays. Another selling point is that the calendar of events will provide useful information that can be used for scheduling. Any company who is having a special event can look at the global calendar and avoid clashing times/dates with other organizations. This also allows them to attract more people to their events by scheduling their own events when other organizations aren't scheduled.

THE KINGSTON TRIO MARCH 10TH DOORS 7:00P // SHOW 8:00P
The Kingston Trio began with Nick Reynolds, Bob Shane and Dave Guard in 1955... Home base: San Francisco. The three founded what turned out to be the most influential music band to emerge from the 1950s, only to be outdone by The Beatles. With talent and tenacity, they rose to become the undisputed kings of an acoustic musical genre that exploded onto the American scene, and still exists today!
10,000 MANIACS APRIL 25TH DOORS 7:00P // SHOW 8:00P
The band has covered plenty of ground in its 35-plus years, from cult-herodom to international stardom, to their current status as a cornerstone alternative band. But the sound and spirit of 10,000 Maniacs remains consistent. The live shows embrace their entire catalogue, and the lineup is still anchored by four of the six original members.
KEVIN NEALON SEPTEMBER 26TH SHOWS AT 6:30PM & 9:30PM
Kevin Nealon sets himself apart from other comedic performers with his unique sense of humor, dry wit and likeable demeanor. Nealon is best known for his nine-year stint as a cast member of NBC's Saturday Night Live, and has received critical acclaim for his role in the Showtime series, Weeds.
