Open Access Journal for Librarians
Marketing Libraries Journal is the first open access, peer-reviewed, scholarly journal devoted to the marketing of libraries which can be accessed
here.
The first issue contains a diverse collection of articles on a variety of topics that include: marketing education in LIS curriculum, library branding, video marketing, library advocacy, library marketing campaigns, and technology tools used for library marketing.

Skidmore College's Scribner Library who joins our Regional Automation Advisory Committee.

Library Advocacy Day
Soon, we will be visiting the Capitol t
o promote the importance of increasing State Library Aid proportionally with education funding.
This year will be particularly challenging so it's important for everyone to get out and be heard!
Library Advocacy Day is a statewide effort coordinated by
NYLA to get library supporters in the offices of our state legislators.
Mark your calendar and be sure to join your colleagues in Albany on
Wednesday, February 28.

Regional Collections Grant
The deadline to submit your application for the Regional Collections Grant (formerly known as RBDB) is fast approaching. Applicants have until February 1 to submit their proposals for consideration.

Ilka Morse, our Digitization Field Trainer has decided it's time to spend less time at work and more time with her grandchildren. She will be retiring on February 1.
llka has provided invaluable service and guidance with New York Heritage, not only to CDLC members but to the larger New York Heritage community.
We will miss Ilka and are very grateful for all of the work she has done with all of you to support and promote your digital collections!

New York Heritage Digital Collections is a research portal for students, educators, historians, genealogists, and everyone else interested in the people, places and institutions of historical New York State.
So far, CDLC members have added over 29,000 items to the database.

Service Spotlight: Union List of Serials
CDLC's
Union List of Serials (ULS) provides a single
point of access to check holdings information for the more than 36,000 serial titles held in the region. The ULS is updated semi-annually with OCLC Local Holdings Records input by CDLC and its member libraries.
You can search by title keywords, ISSNs, or library name. Click on the button above to do a search today!

See you at the Next InfoMingle!
The creative planning committee, representing Mohawk Valley Library System, Schenectady County Public Library, Skidmore College, Southern Adirondack Library System and Upper Hudson Library System launched another successful InfoMingle graciously hosted by Schenectady County Public Library.
Attendees networked and enjoyed a tour of Schenectady PL that included their RFID-based circulation system (very cool!), Friends of the Library sorting area-equally impressive, and beautiful children's room.

Two Hundred Years on the Erie Canal
Across New York State, libraries
are celebrating the bicentennial of the groundbreaking of the Erie Canal. Accordingly, the Empire State Library Network has partnered with the Digital Public Library of America on a traveling exhibit,
Two Hundred Years on the Erie Canal.

View the exhibit in libraries throughout New York State until Summer 2018. Locally, the exhibit has been to Guilderland Public Library, Albany Public Library Bach Branch, Schuylerville Public Library, and

, and
Amsterdam Free Library
.
It's currently at Schenectady County Community College and then travels on to Fulton Montgomery County Community College. It will also make a stop at Margaret Reaney Memorial Library in St. Johnsville. Be sure to stop in to see it!

Carroll Preston Baber Research Grant

The American Library Association (ALA) gives an annual grant for those conducting research that will lead to the improvement of services to users. The Carroll Preston Baber Research Grant is given to one or more librarians or library educators who will conduct innovative research that could lead to an improvement in services to any specified group of people.
