- Acceptance of LGBTQ people is slowly on the rise in Nigeria
GLAAD is working closely with the Bisi Alimi Foundation and the initiative for Equal Rights in Nigeria. A new poll finds that will the majority of Nigerians still oppose same-sex marriage, up to 30% believe that LGBT people should have access to healthcare, housing, and education.
- Anti-LGBT Legislation in Nigeria
Pen American Center has released a detailed report regarding recent legislation that has greatly reduced freedom of expression from LGBTQI communities in Nigeria.
- The Importance of Disaggregating Complex Data
Sarah Gunther, Director of Programs at Astraea Lesbian Foundation for Justice, has written a blog post that explains why disaggregating data pertaining to LGBTQI communities is helpful in understanding trends, gaps, and funding opportunities.
- Launch of Communities for Just Schools Fund
The Communities for Just Schools Fund (CJSF) is a new national donor collaborative that supports constituency-led organizing efforts to create positive and supportive school climates, which affirm and foster the success of all students.

Venture capitalist
Marc Andreessen
and philanthropist
Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen
have given $250,000 to Trans*H4CK, a nonprofit that puts on hackathons to develop new tech products for the trans and gender non-conforming communities, and Lesbians Who Tech, a national organization that supports and connects gay women in tech by holding gatherings.
- Calamus Foundation Awards $1 million
The Calamus Foundation (NYC) has issued a $1 million grant to SAGE to support expansion of the nonprofit's nationwide housing program for LGBT seniors.

Ruth Baldacchino
Ruth Baldacchino
will lead the first-ever Intersex Fund's grantmaking, capacity building and philanthropic advocacy to support and amplify intersex activism globally. Ruth brings strong expertise and commitment to Astraea, having worked with the international intersex movement for many years. Congratulations, Ruth!

Richard Burns joins the board of the Proteus Fund. He is a non-profit management consultant who has served as Interim Executive Director for several different foundations and organizations. Many congratulations, Richard!
Sharon Stapel
Sharon Stapel has been selected as the President and Executive Director of the Nonprofit Coordinating Committee of New York (NPCC). She is currently the Executive Director of the New York City Gay and Lesbian Anti-violence Project (AVP), the nation's largest LGBTQ and HIV-affected anti-violence program. Congratulations, Sharon!
