AGHP ROPE ACCESS SAFETY AWARD The AGHP Rope Access Committee has undertaken the development of a “Rope Access Safety Award”. The awards will be presented annually to recognize companies who meet or exceed best practices in their documented rope access safety management. Companies interested in applying for the award must complete the application and provide the corresponding documentation. Award recipients will receive an AGHP Rope Access Safety Award plaque and will be given the ability to utilize the safety award graphic to recognize the companys status as an award winner for the year. The purpose of this award is to provide a verified metric to recognize professional rope access programs who prescribe to industry recognized best practices.
We are extending this important award into 2018. More information to come!
DEBRIS FLOW HAZARD MITIGATION COMMITTEE The Debris Flow Hazard Mitigation Committee is the AGHP’s newest committee, all interested people are invited to join this committee! This committee will focus on investigating, developing and sharing information regarding new technology and resources for the mitigation of debris flows. The committee will also aim to produce, collect, and disseminate reliable data. The committee is envisioned to consist of individuals from a wide range of backgrounds including industry professionals, consultants and academics that are actively engaged in planning, constructing and researching all forms of debris flow mitigation measures.
Three long term goals have been put forward as a foundation for the committee:
- Bridge the gap between academic research and real-world mitigation projects (and all the steps in between);
- Review the current state of performance evaluation of mitigation approaches and the testing of mitigation measures;
- Work towards establishing guidelines for testing methodology for mitigation measures.
Currently the committee has committed members from Asia, Europe and North America. Although the committee will eventually only be open to members of the Association, all invitees are encouraged to attend the kick-off meeting. Not only will this meeting allow potential members to have a look inside the committee and decide whether they would like to join, but also provide valuable insight into what the pressing issues are in our industry and discuss how the technical committee can benefit the industry.
Meetings will be held via teleconference on a monthly basis. The kick off meeting will be held on Wednesday November 9, at 8:00 am PST (11:00 am EST, 5:00 pm CEST, 11:00 pm HKT).
We would appreciate hearing back from you if you have interest and if you are planning on attending the first meeting.
We look forward to hearing from you! Regards, Clarence Choi | [email protected]
