Council Message
Message from Council President

A God Moment

How do you know when God is speaking to you? How do you know when God is directing you? I have contemplated these questions throughout my life and know that God has placed many opportunities in front of me and created circumstances where the decisions or choices to be made are obvious. Often, they are answered prayers. I have decided a God moment is the point of realization that everything has fallen into place in a way that serves Him.

Many of you may have heard some rumblings about a preschool being interested in renting space from LCC. These are not just rumblings.  Evergreen Academy is a Christian infant care/toddler/preschool that has been serving the child care needs for Conifer/Evergreen area since 1989. The owner, Victoria Lierheimer, has expressed her desire to work with LCC to make our facility the school's new home. The school has an excellent reputation and one of two Christian day care options in our community. Most importantly, our values and beliefs are aligned with each other.

Obviously there are many questions and details that need to be addressed in order to bring a preschool into our facility and church family. First, and foremost, be assured that the desired outcome is a win-win for all, including little to no impact on the many wonderful ministries that LCC offers to its members and the community. Can we  co-habitate? Yes, it is possible. Council and elders have had meetings to address the issues, pros and cons, and the terms of the lease agreement. I would like to invite everyone to an informational meeting after 2nd service on Sunday,  June 11th where we will have FAQ's and discussion.

I ask you to consider the following questions before the meeting. Is there a better way to bring 50 young families into our facility every week? Is there a better way to generate significant revenue for our church? Is there a better way to serve the young families in our community? Doesn't God call us to teach the children about his love for them and the importance of living a Christian life? Lastly, is this a God moment?

I look forward to seeing everyone on June 11th!

Blessings,
Nonie Willisch

We give thanks for the following people who have helped support our life together as a community of faith!

Pastor's Sabbatical
Pastor Philip is on sabbatical through July 17. Sabbaticals are a part of Pastor's contract and LCC's policy.  John Bergen is providing the primary leadership and many others are supporting by providing sermons, leading worship, and other areas. .

The theme of the sabbatical is Beaks, Peaks, and the Holy Spirit Speaks.  The sabbatical includes 2 months in the US and one month in Africa.  During this time Pastor will be spending time in God's creation bird watching, climbing peaks, and spending time in God's Word to be refreshed and inspired to a renewed passion for ministry.
Please continue to pray for Pastor as the renewal takes place.

Pictures of his experiences can be found on our LCC Facebook page and on Pastor's Facebook page, Mybigyear

Be sure and sign up to sponsor flowers on the chart posted in the Fellowship Hall or talk to Stephanie in the church office.  The cost is $30 for two bouquets and you get to take them home following the last service.  Thank you for helping make the sanctuary beautiful during Sunday service.
June 10th Ice Cream Social and Performances by the Legendary Ladies  LCC Women of the Word want to thank you for your support in buying their pies.
Excitement over this Ice Cream Social has been so great that we are starting earlier  than originally planned, and moved the performance into the Sanctuary. Bring your  $3.00 ticket (kids are free) and arrive at LCC around 1:30-1:45 pm for ice cream. We  will stop serving ice cream around 2:15, and people will be directed to the Sanctuary  to enjoy the performances of six of the Legendary Ladies. Their performance begins  at 2:30. This should be a fun experience for the whole family. For more information,  talk to one of our WOW Event Committee members, Pat Roske, Sondra Inman,
Jane Von Thun or Jill Hansen.
