YOUR GIFTS AT WORK

Marie came to The Shelter after officers rescued her from traffickers at an area trailer camp. Neighbors of camp called the police after hearing strange noises in the trailer where Marie was held hostage and was being abused. When she arrived at The Shelter, she was weak, trembling, and very hungry. Staff assessed her needs and provided immediate assistance.  

Marie was terrified of the dark and needed therapy to address her fear and anxiety. Access to a shower was like a priceless gift. She was haunted by the smell of the rooms in which she had been sold and desperately wanted to be rid of the smell. The simple act of bathing helped ease her pain and she loved everything that smelled clean and fresh...
