CEO MESSAGE: A FIRST QUARTER REVIEW
Since joining the company this past January, I have continued to be impressed by the commitment and calibre of TNDC's employees and stakeholders. I have been focussed on developing relationships with Tahltan leadership, TNDC partners and other stakeholders. A new strategic plan has been developed, and TNDC is making progress in several areas to positively contribute to development in Tahltan territory. We saw exciting headway with contracts on mining projects and powering up our first commercial fibre customer in partnership with our business partners. TNDC remains committed to ensuring the Tahltan Nation benefits from resource and industrial development occurring in Tahltan territory, while exploring new opportunities to diversify our service offering and embracing an innovative, progressive mindset to ensure TNDC's long-term sustainable growth .   Read more

FIRST TAHLTECH DRILLING PROJECT UNDERWAY
Tahltech Drilling, TNDC's partnership with Geotech Drilling Services, completed its first drilling services contract in Tahltan territory, on Imperial Metals' Red Chris property. Tahltech provided hydrogeological and geological drilling services, using sonic drilling methods. The drilling program provided geologists with soil cores of the overburden soils, and facilitated the installation of wells, to allow long term environmental monitoring of groundwater around the mine site and its facilities. The project demonstrates the advantage of the combined local expertise and strength of the two companies. It is an excellent example of the full-range of services that can be provided in collaboration to benefit the resource development and mining industry.  Read More

TAHLTAN FIBRE CONNECTS FIRST INDUSTRIAL CUSTOMER
Tahltan Fibre (TNDC's fibre optics company) connected its first industrial customer, turning up high-speed fibre optic service to AltaGas' Forrest Kerr run of river hydroelectric project in partnership with Northwestel through our Tahltan River Communications partnership. The fibre optic technology is providing fast, reliable communications, enabling AltaGas to monitor the project remotely. The project transitioned from satellite microwave technology, which is more expensive and highly susceptible to connectivity interruptions. While this new fibre optic connection relies on Northwestel's microwave system in Iskut, by utilizing the TNDC fibre from Iskut to the site, the reduced risk of an additional microwave required to feed the site means less downtime and faster speeds for the client.  Read More

TNDC SUPPORTS PINK SHIRT DAY ANTI-BULLYING CAMPAIGN
The TNDC office team donned pink to take a stand against bullying on Pink Shirt Day on February 22, 2017, supporting a Canada-wide initiative. Bullying is a major problem in our schools, workplaces, homes, and over the internet. On Pink Shirt Day Canadians across the country at work and schools wear pink t-shirts to symbolize that as a society we will not tolerate bullying. The initiative shows victims of bullying they are not alone, there are people who care, and there is help and support. Proceeds from t-shirt purchases fund programs that support children's healthy self-esteem organizations to teach children empathy, compassion and kindness towards both others and themselves.  Read more
