The upcoming year brings with it one of the biggest and most exciting projects in Golden history!  As a community, we have the opportunity to create the next phase of the Clear Creek Corridor and collectively set in motion a plan that will shape the Heart of Golden for generations to come.

Earlier this year, the City of Golden purchased 7.27 acres of land east of Ford Street along the Clear Creek Corridor. This enhanced corridor in the heart of Golden provides the community the chance to address several longstanding community goals:

This past Sunday, the City of Golden kicked off its public engagement process for the Heart of Golden 2020 project. More than 70 people came to see the building that currently stands at 311 10th St. (part of the City's acquisition) and then tour the full parcel of additional land available to us for redevelopment. Many people left comments and thoughts on maps of the area, and many others are providing feedback on our engagement website,  GuidingGolden.com.

The Museum's successful campaign with individual donors triggered the disbursement of a matching contribution in memory of longtime supporter Carol McMurray.

To date, visitation is up 300% over last year, smashing every previous annual attendance record. GHM&P witnessed an explosion in growth in other areas as well. Its outreach program, Building Colorado, serves nearly 10,000 students annually; its acclaimed Hands-on History camp fills to capacity each summer; and the Museum went through an extensive renovation of its public spaces. Most recently, a newly refurbished Touch Gallery was opened which celebrates Golden's rich culinary history.

While admission will be free next year, the museum also sells household memberships starting at just $75. These include two free guest passes to almost all programs, in addition to special registration preference and pricing for Hands-on History summer camp. Founded in 1938, GHM&P serves more than 20,000 individuals through fun exhibits, dynamic programming and engaging classroom outreach. It also preserves and shares more than 16,000 historic artifacts including recently digitized photographs and more than a century and a half of the Golden Transcript.
