Chris Clark elected President of Board of Education
At its Dec. 19 regular meeting, the Folsom Cordova Board of Education elected Chris Clark as its next president.

The president, which serves a one-year term in the role, works to ensure meetings are run in an efficient, transparent, and orderly manner, according to Board bylaws. The president also consults with the Superintendent in preparation of Board meeting agendas.

Clark, a  resource development manager for the  Folsom Cordova Community Partnership   and a past president of the  Cordova High School PTSA was elected to the Board in 2016.

In other action, the Board selected Ed Short as vice president, and David Reid as clerk.
Cordova Villa Elementary's next principal announced
The Folsom Cordova Board of Education on Dec. 19 approved the selection of veteran educator Christy Wilkerson to lead Cordova Villa Elementary School as its next principal.

Wilkerson has been a member of the Folsom Cordova family for nearly 20 years. Since 2018 she has served as an assistant principal at Folsom Middle School and, for three years before that, she was an assistant principal at Mitchell Middle. At Mitchell, she worked directly with the academic coach and intervention teacher to provide support to high-need students, and also played a key role in several initiatives designed to strengthen campus climate and culture.

Wilkerson joined Team FCUSD in 2000 as a math teacher at Folsom High School, eventually growing into a role as the District's secondary math lead teacher, supporting teacher training and curriculum implementation.

She will begin at Cordova Villa on Jan. 6, 2020. Wilkerson replaces  Dr. Richard Tapia, who accepted a position as the assistant superintendent for Riverbank Unified School District earlier this year.
