ACA 2019 Volunteer Appreciation Lunch & President’s Volunteer Service Award

ACA President Shenlin Chen, Board member Roland Hwang, Sharon Dow, Tess Tchou, Sue Sung, Elinor Ho; Executive Director Yihong Li, and ACA staff participated in the volunteer appreciation lunch. President Shenlin Chen and Executive Director Yihong Li delivered speeches on behalf of the ACA board committee and the ACA Centers respectively, expressing their most sincere gratitude to the volunteers.

入冬的密西根，气温渐冷，但感恩依旧温暖。美华协会于 11 月 16 日周六举办了一年一次的义工感恩餐会，120 多位义工包括美华理事、员工在 Madison Heights 的美华活动中心齐聚一堂，共度了充满家庭温馨而又感动的感恩餐会。美华会长陈圣玲，理事Roland Hwang, Sharon Dow, Tess Tchou, Sue Sung, Elinor Ho；主任李一红，美华各中心工作人员，都参加了此次感恩餐会活动。会长陈圣玲,主任李一红分别代表美华理事会和美华各中心致辞，向义工们表达最诚挚的谢意。

The winter is coming to Michigan and the temperature is getting colder and colder. However, thanks to these lovely volunteers, we still feel the warmth. On Saturday, November 16, ACA held an annual volunteer appreciation lunch party. More than 120 volunteers (including ACA Board members and employees) spent the warm and grateful appreciation lunch together as a family at the ACA Chinese Community Center in Madison Heights.

Although ACA has limited resources, we still successfully held many events and programs this year. There are many volunteers who come from all over, regardless of professional background, age, ethnicity, to ACA the greatest assistance in all kinds of affairs. ACA's recurring activities and services, include daily hot lunches, transportation, ACA garden maintenance, central hardware maintenance, annual charity sale, English courses, computer literacy teaching, Tai Chi class, dance class, martial arts class, chorus class, seasonal activities such as youth summer camps, summer family fun day or annual banquet, etc.,have been actively supported by volunteers. The support and services of volunteers have become the most valuable assets for ACA. In the past year, ACA has received more than 300 volunteers to provide more than 3,000 hours of volunteer services. These records do not include the full obligation of the members who have been quietly supporting ACA and our board members. These volunteers donate private or family time, do not ask for a return, and only hope to contribute their own efforts, so that the activities and business of ACA can be carried out smoothly, and more people in the community can be benefited.

美华协会各地中心每年都有许多活动和需要，在中心资源有限的情况下，欣慰的各地都有许多义工，不分职业背景，年龄，种族，在各样的事务上给予美华协会最大的协助。举凡美华的经常性活动，如每日的午餐，交通接送，清洁，菜（花）园整治，中心硬体维修，年节义卖，英语，电脑教学，太极，舞蹈，武术，合唱班，或季节性活动如青少年夏令营，夏日家庭日或是年度庆典活动等等，都得到了义工们的积极支持。义工的支持和服务已成为美华协会最宝贵的资产。过去一年，美华协会得到超过 300 位义工的支持，一共提供超过 3000 小时的义工服务。这些记录还没有包括那些一直默默支持美华的老会员及我们的理事会的理事们全然的义务服务。这些义工们奉献私人或是家庭时间，不求回报，只希望能贡献一己之力，使美华的活动和业务都顺利开展，社区更多人可以因之得福。

ACA is proud to be approved as the official certification organization for the President’s Volunteer Service Award. The President’s Volunteer Service Award is the most honored volunteer awards program, which aims to encourage citizens to serve the community through presidential awards and national recognition. It is a great honor and pride for ACA to have the qualifications to apply for the president's signature for the volunteers. We hope that the outstanding work of volunteers will be recognized, and it can help to send a powerful message to encourage others to take action together and serve the community.

The ACA Volunteer Appreciation lunch awarded 20 volunteers the President’s Volunteer Service Award. Each winner received a certificate and a congratulatory letter signed by President Trump.

美华协会很荣幸被批准成为总统义工服务奖的官方认证组织。总统义工服务奖是荣誉度最高的义工嘉奖计划，宗旨是通过总统嘉奖和国家认可鼓励公民服务社区。可以有资历为我们的义工申请总统签名认可的义工服务奖是美华巨大的荣幸和骄傲。希望义工们杰出的工作得到认可，并能传递一个有力的信息，鼓励其他人也一起采取行动，回报社区。

此次美华义工答谢会一共给二十位义工颁发了总统义工服务奖。每位获奖者都得到了一份认证证书以及Trump总统签名的恭贺信。
