Christmas is a time to sing what we believe!
This four-week series provides an opportunity to appreciate the season's expressions of hope, lament, joy, and devotion in Christmas music.
Each week features a passage of Scripture, as well as a well-known Christmas carol that illustrates the true message of the season.

This week we will be looking at the classic Christmas Carol

"Joy to the World"

and we will be looking at Scripture in relation to this carol from
See Christ Clearly in 2020
With the year 2020 just around the corner, AdventELC will be focusing on a theme: Seeing Christ Clearly in 2020 . We look to direct our attention and energy in two ways: seeing Christ clearly personally and showing Christ clearly to the world.
While you may be able to see clearly all that is happening in the worship service it may be difficult for some of you to hear what's happening. We want everyone to fully participate in worship, that includes hearing.

At AdventELC we have a personal assisted listening system which allows listeners to use a personal audio device to take into the pew with you so that you can listen to the mix from the sound board. In short, whatever comes through the microphones and speakers will be wirelessly transmitted to our assisted listening device.

This can be used by anyone in worship that are hard of hearing, require hearing aid technology, or simply want more control over the volume level of the sound at their ears.
Getting an
Assisted Listening Device
is as Simple as 1, 2, 3!

  1. When you come to church, as you get a bulletin from an usher simply let them know that you would like to try an assisted listening device. The usher will then go to the sound room to retrieve one for you before you take your seat.
  2. Simply turn it on and place the headphones over your ears. If you prefer earbuds, please bring a pair from home. Adjust the volume as needed, right from your seat, to your own personal comfort level.
  3. At the end of the service simple hand the device back to an usher or return it to the sound room, located by the name tag stand in the narthex.

Noteworthy & New
Christmas with the Staff
We had 16 children making waffle houses, pinning the nose on a snowman, coloring, playing games, and watching A Charlie Brown Christmas!
Thanks to Mary, Jean, Matt, Jeanne Benedict, Holly Cronau, Annabelle Layne, Louisa and Cece Bolzenius, Natalie Welch, and Pastor Aaron, for helping with the annual Christmas with the Staff.
Christmas Cheer
From assembling boxes, sorting food and toys, filling food boxes, checking in families, distributing food and toys, assisting clients to their cars, and cleaning up, volunteers from all over central Ohio served close to 6,000 families through Christmas Cheer.

Some of our youth and adults took a three-hour shift Thursday to fill boxes with food and take their items and load them in their cars. It was three hours of nonstop, on-your-feet work, that brought a sense of Christmas cheer to all.

Thanks to Matt Pittman for coordinating this annual effort.
Christmas Message from Presiding Bishop Eaton
ELCA Presiding Bishop Elizabeth Eaton shares her 2019 Christmas message. We celebrate the miracle of God’s love that has come to us in the form of a tiny baby who gives his life for us, that we might have life.
