City Council Meeting May 21, 2018
The City Council meeting on May 21, 2018 is at 6:00 p.m. in the council chambers at 1133 66th Street.  Click here to view the agenda. 
Summer Hours Starting June 1
City offices will implement summer hours starting on June 1, 2018- August 31, 2018. City offices will close at 3:00 p.m on Fridays. 
63rd Street Sidewalk Construction
The Contractor will start restoration on 64th Street and 63rd Street the week of May 21st.  They will continue working on the sidewalk on 63rd Street the middle of next week.  All work is weather dependent. Those affected residents have been notified, please see those notices for more information. 
Residents will need to remove all vehicles out of their driveways and garages, when work starts on their segment. They will be working one segment/block at a time. They anticipate it will take approximately 1-2 weeks per block/segment

Notices will be given prior to driveway removal for those residents. Residents on 63rd Street will have received a construction newsletter on the project. Lane closures on 63 rd Street will occur during the  construction of the sidewalk. You can expect lane closures during the times of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on 63 rd Street .

Street Rehabilitation Project- HMA Overlay
The Contractor will be pouring curb on Northwest Drive and 64th Street the week of May 21st.  The remaining streets on the project (66th Street, 69th Street and 70th Street) are on hold until Des Moines Water Works complete their project which is the anode retrofit project more details are coming soon. 

If it rains on the day scheduled for the asphalt overlay, the contractor will place the overlay on the next business day.  Once the milling of the street begins, please do not park cars on the street until after the overlay has been placed.  The contractor will be sweeping and cleaning the street between the milling and the asphalt placement.

Windsor Heights is bringing Summer Camp to Colby Park. The week will be packed with a variety of games including; Minute to Win-it and Survivor challenges, relay races and obstacle courses, water balloons launches and scavenger hunts! Summer camp is designed for 6-12 year olds and will consistently encourage teamwork, sportsmanship and most importantly FUN! Windsor Heights Foundation- Night in the Height

The Windsor Heights Foundation has a long history of bringing many people together at Colby Park to enjoy a Tuesday night summer concert.   The Windsor Heights Foundation is a private, community foundation that invests your generous contributions in projects and activities that enhance the quality of life in Windsor Heights. The volunteer leadership of the Windsor Heights Foundation is dedicated to ensuring these investments provide the most impact. We are testing new ideas for the Tuesday night summer concert series to create an even more festive atmosphere for even more members of our community.  

This year, Nights in the Heights will expand the free Tuesday night concerts to 90 minutes, offer additional food trucks, beverage options and adding local high school band performances beginning at 6:00 p.m. so you can picnic prior to the featured concert at 7:00 p.m. Please note special times for the July 3 rd holiday featured event.

The bands booked for Nights in the Heights concerts represent a mix of rock, country, pop, grass roots, and Latin. Mark your calendars today for these great concerts:

June 26 - Freestyle
July 3 - Abby Normal 6:00 - 9:30 p.m. followed by City of  Windsor Heights-sponsored Fireworks
July 10 - Jason Walsmith
July 17 - Tony Valdez
July 24 - Randy Burk and the Prisoners
July 31 - Brother Trucker
Keep Windsor Heights Beautiful Garden Tour- June 9
Mark your calendar for the Windsor Heights Garden Tour on  Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., held rain or shine. The garden tour is sponsored by Keep Windsor Heights Beautiful. Come experience some lovely gardens by Windsor Heights  gardeners who have a rich understanding that we can make a difference in our neighborhoods, and in our lives.  Come see for yourself!  There is no charge for the Garden Tour. Instead, visitors are encouraged to consider a free will donation. Money raised helps buy plants and other items for the two garden beds that are maintained by the commitee along the circle drive at Colby Park. Brochures can be picked up at the Butterfly Garden at Colby Park the day of the tour.
