Taizé for the Longest Nights - December 8 - 5:30PM

On Sunday, Dec. 8 at 5:30 we not only will give thanks to God for our blessings. We also will give voice to feelings of grief, loss, or loneliness we may be experiencing during this time of year, offering those feelings to God. Please join us for Taizé, a forty-five minute time of peace, healing, and comfort during these longest nights of the year. We pray that we all may find hope in knowing that we are not alone in the darkness.

"Bringing Mind, Spirit AND Body to Your Faith"
Worship services are a multi-sensory opportunity to accept and care for our whole selves. Join Amanda MacDonald to talk about how Sunday morning (and any time) can be an opportunity for renewal of Mind, Spirit, AND Body. Amanda Blair MacDonald is a movement educator and consultant based in Chicago and Winnetka who recently recorded a TEDx talk "How We Move Is How We Think". Amanda, her husband Dan, and her daughter, Mattie Blair, all sing in our choir and joined the church in 2012.

Worship Options for Everyone on Christmas Eve!

Are you wondering which of our Christmas Eve services to come to? To help you decide, here is a brief description of each one.

11:00AM  New this year, this service will be similar to our 3:00PM service but a bit shorter. The congregation will sing the same familiar carols, but accompanied by piano rather than organ. Children will be invited to participate in the homily around the creche. If you are bringing babies and toddlers, just bring them on in so we can all worship together, as we will not have childcare at this service.

3:00PM  Holy Eucharist with carols accompanied by organ. As at the 11:00AM, children will be invited to participate in the homily and around the creche. Childcare is offered in the Nursery. This service is one hour in length.

8:00PM   Holy Eucharist with full choir, strings, and organ. Music will include Christmas carols, traditional descants, and choral anthems. A new piece composed by Organist and Choirmaster Richard Clemmitt also will be included . The congregation is invited to arrive at 7:30 for caroling together before the service starts.

11:00PM  Holy Eucharist with full choir, organ, and strings. Although similar to our 8:00 p.m. service, this service has the added excitement and tradition of concluding at midnight, just as Christmas Day is beginning. The singing of "Silent Night" at that moment is especially beautiful! The congregation is invited to arrive at 10:30 for caroling together in the church before the service starts.

Note: No Morning Eucharist on Wednesday, December 25
The 2040 Committee's discernment process started and ended with asking how God is calling CCW to be a community of faith in the Episcopal tradition.

The Committee concluded that God is calling on CCW's abundance, to bear witness to God's presence in our lives and to take action to ensure our vitality and long-term sustainability. To support this call to action the committee created CCW Guiding Principles for a vital way forward for our parish. Click here for more details.

Save the Date: Please join us on Tuesday, January 7th at 7PM in the Chapel at 470 Maple for additional details.

Second Sunday Soul Fuel on December 8 @ 4PM

Soul Fuel is a youth group for high schoolers and their friends. We meet on the second Sunday of every month at 4PM. On December 8, we will meet in the Great Hall at 470 Maple because we will be setting up for Wrap N Roll, which is that evening. We need your help decorating the Great Hall and the Chapel for wrapping, eating, St. Nick visiting, and singing! Please RSVP or just show up! ALL are welcome!

Christmas Pageant Sign-Up!

All children and youth are invited to join us for our Christmas Pageant to be performed Sunday, December 15 at the 9:30 service. Our beautiful and low-stress pageant requires no memorizing of lines, only one rehearsal for the older children, and no rehearsal at all for ages three through 2nd grade (except for Primary Choir, who will attend rehearsal.)

The roles of Mary and the Baby Jesus are already taken for this year, but we have plenty of additional roles to suit everyone: Joseph, angels, shepherds, sheep, and friendly beasts. Plus narrators, scene directors, and behind the scenes helpers. Costumes provided. Primary Choir and Third Grade Choir do not need to sign up, they automatically have a role.

Our one rehearsal is Saturday, December 14, 9:00-11:00 for all cast members age third grade and up AND Primary Choir choristers.

Please sign up on our website or send an email with requested roles to  [email protected] or  [email protected].
