APPRENTICESHIP IN A DAY WORKSHOP
Employers from across the state are invited to learn about registered apprenticeships at a groundbreaking new workshop on Thursday, May 24 in Traverse City. The Apprenticeship in a Day workshop will run from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm and is part of the Michigan Educators Apprenticeship and Training Association (MEATA) annual conference at the Holiday Inn Resort West Beach. MEATA, in collaboration with the Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship, Northwestern Michigan College and Northwest Michigan Works!, are offering this innovative accelerated approach to every employer interested in developing and implementing a registered apprenticeship program.
During the event, every industry large or small will have the opportunity to learn about registered apprenticeships and how easy it is to develop and implement programs for their specific workforce needs.

Creating Confident Caregivers® (CCC) is a free 6-session program for family caregivers of persons with dementia and/or memory loss. This university developed program is led by trained facilitators who provide participants with information and skill-building activities to increase their effectiveness as caregivers. To date, over 4,000 caregivers nationwide have benefited from the class.
Creating Confident Caregivers® provides caregivers with tools and techniques to reduce their stress and improve the care they provide to their family member. Munson Healthcare Charlevoix Hospital is pleased to welcome its newest oncology provider, Jennifer Wedge, MSN, ACNP-BC. Jennifer will oversee the Sarah M. Foster MD Chemotherapy-Infusion Center as well as the hospital's oncology/cancer care program, together with Andrew J. Riddle, DO.
Jennifer brings a wealth of more than 15 years of acute care oncology experience to the hospital, having completed a training program at the nationally-recognized cancer center, City of Hope in California, and served at the Karmanos Cancer Center. The popular Charlevoix Camel Cup is back for the third year and will take place on May 5, 2018 from noon-6:00pm. The Camel Cup is a giant gameboard race where the dice are rolled and the corresponding camel moves forward on the board. The camel that makes it to the end first wins and money is paid to those betting on that camel. There are 6 races before the final race where the six largest earning camels compete for the coveted Camel Cup. All proceeds raised fund the Bridge Drop New Year's Eve celebration. Have fun while raising funds!

The Charlevoix Historical Society will present a program titled "Bragging Rights," tracing how Charlevoix has achieved a reputation that stretches around the world. This program, presented by Harsha House museum curator David L. Miles, will take place on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 7:00pm at the Depot, Depot Beach.
Explored will be the mysterious origin of the slogan "Charlevoix the Beautiful," how the town contributed to the success of the Apollo Space Program and the World War II victory in Europe, its former renown as the most desirable vacation destination in Michigan, the scores of notable people who have walked its streets, the national and international records that have been set here including entry into the Guinness Book of World Records, and much more.

CIRCLE OF ARTS WELCOMES A STEINWAY PIANO WITH A DEBUT CONCERT The Charlevoix Circle of Arts will present a special concert on Saturday, April 7, 2018, beginning at 4:00pm to introduce to the community the new (to the Circle of Arts) Steiniway Grand Piano. This purchase was made possible through the Cummings Foundation to support the Dorothy Gerber Strings Program. Purchased from Calvin College, this Steinway has had a wonderful history of great performances. Hyesook Kim, Director of Keyboard Studies at Calvin College expressed, "It was a little sad to see that piano leaving but I trust it will serve your music making well."

Leadership Charlevoix County (LCC) and Stiggs Brewery & Kitchen in Boyne City are hosting a Euchre Tournament & Beatles Vinyl Night on Monday, April 9, from 7-10pm. This fun night will help raise money for the LCC 2018 class project, Beetle Mania. The Euchre Night event will have a $10 buy-in, with all the funds directly benefitting the LCC project. Saturday, April 14th at 10:00am at Raven Hill Discovery Center for an introductory session and demonstration of 3D printing. Instructor, Josh Clements will take you through a discussion of what a 3D printer is, what it can do, the hardware and software needed, and a few tips to look for when choosing your first printer. Jania Taylor is an award-winning magician who has been classically trained in the art of prestidigitation. A graduate of the Chavez Studio of Magic, a college of manual dexterity and prestidigitation in Colon, Michigan, she is the third female in the history of the school to complete the course.
