A Note from the Principal

As we head to the final stretch of our school year, it is the time for reflection. It is amazing how fast the year flies by. The final preparations for our 142 nd Commencement Ceremony are being made for the Saturday May 26 th graduation. The class of 2018 has been exemplary and has set the standard academically, artistically and athletically. I have no doubt that the classes coming up will meet that challenge. Our school year is made up of touchstones that make memories for a lifetime. The Junior/Senior Prom was truly the finest I have experienced in my many years in education. Our young people were so grateful of the effort made to make that evening so memorable. We held our first College/Career/Military Signing Day yesterday with a record number of students heading to higher education and the most military signees in our history. We just completed year three of our House Games with all students participating in an attempt to win the House Cup. More importantly, being connected to our school and to one another.

I can't thank all of you enough for your support and commitment to our high school again this year. The spirit of community and the pride in our high school makes everyday a blessing in Delaware. We will continue to work to provide the finest education for our young people in an environment that fosters leadership, service and connections to each other. We have begun to pursue the National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence recognition and we are looking forward to that journey together.

Final exams begin on Friday, May 25th and conclude on Wednesday, May 30th.  Please visit our school website to view this schedule and to make the necessary plans and accommodations for your family.

Have a wonderful and safe summer!

Ric

Clinic Updates

Ohio Law requires that all students enrolled in the Twelfth Grade have a Meningitis (Menactra) vaccine.  The state requires 2 Meningitis vaccines or one if it was given after the 16th birthday. Please provide the school a copy of your student's record by the beginning of the school year.

All medication in the clinic at Hayes will need to be picked up by 3:00 on Wednesday, May 30th.  If the medication in the clinic is over-the-counter, your son/daughter may stop by the clinic at the end of any school day to pick it up to bring home. Any prescription medications MUST be picked up by a parent. The clinic is open during school days from 7:15am to 3:00 pm. If you need to make other arrangements, please call 740-833-1019.
ALL medications that are not picked up will be disposed of through the Delaware City Police School Resource Officer.

Just a reminder:
The Ohio Revised Code and School District Policy does not permit using the same Medication Administration form for different school years. Your child will need to have a new Medication Administration form signed for the 2015-16 school year. Forms for the new school year can be picked up in the school office or found online at:

Please remember to set up your student's appointments with their doctor this summer to get  medical orders for the 2018/19 School year.

Please call Shasta McKee, Hayes School Nurse, with any questions or concerns at 740-833-1019.

Cadence Club:
This year has been an incredible year for the members of the Pacer band!  It began in the Fall with receiving multiple Superior ratings at marching band contests and again at State marching band contest.  In January, some members of the band took a once in a lifetime trip to Ireland and participated in a St. Patrick's Day parade and performed a concert for the residents of Lahardane.  This Spring there were several Superior individual and ensemble performances at Solo & Ensemble contest and then the band ended the year on a high note receiving a Superior rating at Large Group Contest.

The band will perform at graduation and then take a much needed month off before starting the marching band season all over again in July for Delaware's July 4th parade.

New this Summer, the band will be holding it's first ever Food Truck Festival on July 28th from 4-7 at the Delaware County Fairgrounds.  Everyone is invited to come eat some food and enjoy some music!
